I am experiencing the strangest thing with a Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 Model 1979. When I push the built in power button on the palmrest keyboard, the laptop will not power on unless I open up the laptop and disconnect then reconnect the keyboard cable. Then, the laptop will power on just fine. I have to do this for each instance I want to power on the laptop. I am trying to determine if it is a faulty keyboard or a motherboard issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have reset the laptops Windows 11 Operating System, and have performed all updates to ensure that it was not a OS or driver based issue. Thanks again for any direction or help you can provide.

Do you have the Surface app (from the MS App Store)?
I needed to use it a while ago to setup some stuff that Windows Settings or Control Panel couldn't see, so try that for starters.

To my knowledge the Surface Laptops do not have a detachable keyboard like the Surface Pro's, so what is this "disconnect then reconnect the keyboard cable"?
