I have two mics; a Blue Snowball, and one built into an HD Pro Webcam C920. Since October, both have begun exhibiting the same issue, where they are only just barely pick up my voice. Occasionally, and seemingly at random, they might return to proper functionality - only to drop back down to a whisper at a moment's notice.

Both devices worked properly on a friend's computer, and setting them as "default" seems to have little effect. I am unsure if it's an issue with my USB ports or something software related. Would greatly appreciate any kind of advice troubleshooting this problem.

I'm using Discord, for the most part. But other than that, just the device drivers. I dont think it's an issue with discord, cause my voice is barely being detected by the "test mic" feature on Windows.

That suggests that something else is amiss,

If the computer is a desktop can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Why do you have Dell software on a custom built PC.

Issues flagged up in Speccy;

Audio
Logitech G533 Gaming Headset

The above is set as your default audio device.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: My Custom Plan 1

The Windows Power Plan should be set as Balanced and nothing else, there is no telling what affect your present settings may or may not influence.

Partition 2
Partition ID: Disk #1, Partition #2
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: D63C0F1D
Size: 465 GB
Used Space: 433 GB (93%)
Free Space: 32.1 GB (7%)

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available on a HDD and an SSD between 10 and 15% as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.

Uninstall as many unused programs, games, videos and music files as you can and get yourself another means of backing up to, post back when you have between 20 and 25% free storage space on the C: drive/partition and we can go from there.
