I've done some testing. :) Let's start with this :)

  • Start the Chrome browser.
  • On the Apple menu bar, click Chrome and then select Preferences.
  • In the left-pane of the Settings page, and then do the following:
    • Select Extensions: If you find any suspicious extension in the list, click the Trash icon to remove it.

    • Select Settings: Scroll down and click Show advanced settings. From the list of advanced settings, to restore the default settings of Chrome, click Reset browser settings.

In the dialog box that appears, click Reset.
If that doesn't work, go ahead and run MBAM for Mac

Before I opened this thread we ran Malwarebytes for Mac - it found 5 or so items, which we cleaned up. It didn't solve the problem. Deleting extensions and resetting browser settings solved the problem. I asked my son to rerun malwarebytes and send me the txt file - he hasn't run it yet, but I'll post it when he does.
