Hi, i'm getting a message to say i have low disk space on Recovery drive. I checked the properties and of the 21GB on there, there's only 2.07GB available left. I checked what's in there and there's an empty "Program Files" folder and the "Recovery" which shows it only takes up 250MB? I checked to make sure the protection setting was turned off in D and it is. I have included screenshots. Any help or advice would be much appreciated thanks.

The picture you posted titled "D disk protection" simply shows the default settings for windows restore points, ignore it.

Have a look here and use one of these apps to show what data is on your D drive

Hi and thanks for your response. I just downloaded the "TreeSize" app from the link you provided but it's still showing just those two items in the recovery drive and both show the same (an empty "Program Files" folder and the "Recovery". So not sure if i'm doing it right?

Please no need to quote previous posts...

Can you go to control panel/administrative tools/computer management, then select Disk Management from the left hand tree and expand the dialogue box so you can take a screenshot of all listed drives fully including D drive. Please post the screenshot.

D:\ is your recovery partition, used by the OS if you ever 'factory reset' the PC.
It's size is always set to something small as nothing should ever write to it to use up its remaining pre-allocated space.
You have a couple of options; increase it's size with as partition resizing program like EASEUS Partition Master or find what has been dumping files into D:\. You should also be able to turn off low space notification on that partition.

I would start at Restore Points as the culprit and disable them for D:\ drive. One of your first screenshots show them already off for D:\ but make sure any old ones are deleted. And you can do other things to recover space like setting Recycle Bin size to zero for D:\

NEVER ever write stuff to a OEM recovery partition, they are not created for users to use as a normal data drive. Try using Malnutrition's and Bruces advice to clean the partition and then LEAVE IT ALONE. Possibly if you change your folder/file view to show system and hidden files you might see some of what's on the partition.

How would i go about doing this please?

In the same place you turned them off initially.
go back into Control Panel > System, turn them back on for D:\, set max size to min possible, hit Delete then turn back off.
I've had a couple of ocassions where something turns Restore Points back on (updates?) after I always have them off.
