Hi guys,

First of all I know this post is about a laptop that is around 4 years old now, so I'm sorry if I'm way off compared topics regarding more modern hardware or what not.

Anyways. As many of you may be or not be aware, the Lenovo Y410p has some hinges problems since its release in which the hinges break the plastic part of the lower casing attached to it to the point where it separates an entire piece still attached to the hinges. This happens mostly on the left hinge since it is where the laptop's heat sink and fan are located thus receiving a lot of heat, weakening the plastic.

Here are some pictures showing exactly what my problem is. Note that only that corner part lifted up is the one that separated itself from the lower casing, and that it is still attached to the hinge. Said hinge works fine, the problem lies in the lower casing being broken.

The point of this post is that i've ordered this:

I believe it will solve my problem, BUT, I've read other forums where people have done the same and 2 months later the same problem arises. Hence I come to you guys. I wanted to know if it was possible to somehow drill new holes to that part of the lower casing in order to put some screws....if this is viable at all that is.

What do you guys think?

Also, if yes, can someone help me with the how to?
