Hello there!
The BSOD pops up as soon as Windows Update tries to install the Intel HD Graphics driver. The screen becomes black for a few seconds and then the BSOD appears. The screen remains black after the reboot. I can't even enter startup repair, black screen there as well.
I tried installing Win10 (while not being connected to the internet) and it runs totally fine, with no issues. But, I can't run it like that practically. I tried to install the driver update manually using the Lenovo Update utility from the website, but that also caused a BSOD.
Laptop temperatures are totally fine, fans spin well, no physical damage. How can I go about resolving this? I need the system for work, so I'd really appreciate any help!

See if you are able to force the computer to start in the Windows Recovery Environment (RE) by starting up and shutting down the computer two or three times using the case power button, please note that you need to shut down the computer after the MBs splash screen and just before Windows attempts to load, if successful you should then continue to the Troubleshooting options and then hopefully be able to use Reset this PC, a system restore point or Safe Mode etc.

Thanks for replying! I did manage to get into the recovery environment, but every time I try to install the Intel HD graphics driver, it shows the same BSOD.

Why are you trying to install any Intel HD drivers in the first place.

Info that I am finding says the notebook has a discrete Nvidea GPU which is what you would use for gaming and as long as the computer boots up into Windows ok you do not need to install any Intel HD drivers in any event.

True, but won't it create any issues in future, like for example when the next Feature Update or any update comes up? It's currently showing Microsoft Basic Display Adapter where it shows Intel HD Graphics under Display Adapters in Device Manager in Computer Management.

If you have video using generic Windows video drivers as does the notebook that I am using now be happy that you do not need to install anything else, see my canned info below;

Once Windows has been installed, you install the necessary drivers for the MB and other hardware and then leave well alone, drivers should not be allowed to auto update and you should never update any driver/s unless the new drivers are intended to resolve a specific issue that you are having, installing new drivers unnecessarily can actually cause you the very issues that any new drivers are intended to resolve and uninstalling the new drivers may not resolve the problem/s that installing the new drivers has caused.

Depending on priority it can take many months before the driver provider releases any fix and depending on the age of the hardware or software concerned they sometimes do not even bother or may have already announced an end of support.
