Lagging issues / freezing

Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this, but I've been having some problems with my PC lately and I was wondering if I could get some help on what steps to take to figure out how to fix it.

The most apparent issue is that my computer is laggy. Most of my activity is video games, video game-related activities, and your normal internet usage like YouTube and reddit. I have a hard time playing video games because of the lag I get while playing and the jumps in FPS (It usually stays around 22-28, jumps as high as it can go, down to as low as it can go). The load times are pretty long too. My computer used to run these games just fine. Sometimes it seems to have good days/good hours where it runs alright. It doesn't seem to matter if I have things running in the background, but I always make sure I only have the essentials running to do what I'm doing (Discord + Battle.net + Overwatch, for example) but it lags and jumps anyways.

I was thinking maybe I just needed to do a clean reinstall of my operating system, so I did reinstall Windows 10 about a week ago. The problems still seems to be here, along with a problem of my computer freezing. My computer has froze a few times since the reinstall. One time it froze right after turning my computer on and logging in, another time I was just watching YouTube and clicked on a link and it froze. I also got a blue screen recently, but that has also happened once or twice before reinstalling Windows.

Could this be a hardware issue? If it is, I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Some information:
OS: Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Motherboard: MSI model# MS-7693
CPU: AMD FX 6300 Six-Core Processor
8 GB of RAM
My main drive is a SSD, 250GB I think &
My secondary drive is a 1TB hard drive

Hello

Sysnative Tool.

Please download the Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App - save to Documents folder.

Run the app - Double-click on the downloaded EXE file
Output = new folder created in Documents + a zipped version -- SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder + SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip.

Please note that the app averages ~3 minutes to run on most systems; other systems - it my take as long as 10-15 minutes to run. Please be patient.

Also note: The app auto-zips the SysnativeFileCollectionApp output folder. It is located in your Documents folder.
Windows Explorer should open and highlight the zipped folder

Please attach the SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip to your post and await further instructions :)

Please go HERE and download the portable version of Speccy. Save it to somewhere you can find, locate the file and as it comes as a Zip file use your favorite unzip application to decompress it. Open the newly created folder and double left click Speccy.exe if you have a 32 bit system or Speccy64.exe if yours is 64bit. If you are not sure what your system is click HERE.

Speccy will open and after a short wait will display a summary of your system specs.
  • Click on the file menu.
  • Then click Publish snapshot.

Now that your link has been copied please paste it into your next post. It should look something like the example below :)

BTW: once you have finished with speccy and no longer want it removing it is easy because it is a portable app with no install. Simply delete the downloaded file and folder you created when you decompressed it. Gone:thumbsup:

Hello Whyze,

Hope you don`t mind me chiming in with an observation and a question for you :)

It could just be Speccy reporting them wrong but you have temperatures and voltages that look rather off, the CPU temp being 11 °C and PSU voltages +5V: 5.844 and V+12V: 13.376 V are contradictory as the high voltages would be causing overheating which btw is exactly what your problems sound like.

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU - how old is it.

@phillpower2 It was built 2 years ago, my husband got the parts and my brother built it. (I feel very stupid for not having written everything down and kept it.)
I looked inside my computer, but can't see much information on the PSU without having to dismount it entirely. What I COULD see was this code: E164554. Googling it led to a long list of power supply makers and it looks like it is made by L & C/Deer. I also saw 450w, 500w max.
More googling led to people saying it's terrible. Not surprising, I had a small budget for a whole set-up including the monitor.

That brand of PSU is of such poor quality that you are fortunate that it has not gone bang and taken out all of your hardware with it, see my canned info and the attachment below, the example L & C PSU claims to be 350W when in fact it cannot even produce 200W.

Please note that there is one thing that is possibly worse than using a known poor quality brand of PSU and that is using one that is unheard of, for brands of PSU to trust and brands to avoid please refer to the PSU guidance links in my signature below.
