Not open for further replies.
I recently bought a new laptop and installed some games they will start but won’t let me get into a match, it says it is a connection to server issue. I have a 100mb download and 5upload speed. It works very well on chrome and everything exept the game. I deleted norton becuase another forum told me this was the issue but it did not work. Someone please help me out I just wanna play some games.

-windows 10 btw

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Couple of issues in Speccy, neither are directly related to the internet connection but they are both important so need sorting in any event, one or both may be what is needed to resolve the issue but we will need to wait and see.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: Balanced
You need to change this to High Performance in the Windows Power Plan or there will not be enough power for the GTX 1650 to function meaning that the computer will revert to the Intel HD 630 graphics which will be no good for gaming.

You are getting low on free storage space on the C: drive/partition which is bad, see explanation below;

Partition 1
Partition ID: Disk #0, Partition #1
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: 5ECD32CA
Size: 279 GB
Used Space: 226 GB (81%)
Free Space: 52 GB (19%)

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.

it only showed a balanced power option and no other ones, also can i move some data from c to d and if so how? also the even when i had one game i still had the problem so i dont believe it is the storage amount right now

Unless urgent can I ask that you do not post multiple replies but instead give us a chance to finish replying to you last, there is nothing worse than being half way through a reply and having to stop to go and read what is an unhelpful post.

We are not interested in anything called advanced.

Create a new system restore point.

Open Group Policy Editor - Win+R, then type gpedit.msc
Navigate to [Computer Configuration]->[Administrative Templates]->[System]->[Power Management]
Double click the Specify a custom active power plan policy setting
Set to Disabled
Click Apply then OK
Go to the Windows Power Plan and set to High Performance.

Depends what you want to move from C: to D:, documents, music, pictures and videos can either be dragged and dropped from one to the other or alternatively right click what you want to send from C: to D: and then send it.

I did say that it may not be the cause of the issue and it is entirely up to you what you do with your computer, I for my part have advised you and can do no more.

i apologize for thr trouble of posting another thread. and i meant high performance in the last one i dont know where i got "advanced" from. do you have any other ideas that might help? also my friend said and i don't know if this is true but i live in a populated city in a apartment building is it possible all the wifi signanls would have something to do with it?

No worries, as explained it is rather distracting, not to mention that I average a couple of hundred emails a day that I have to read which can be both time consuming and tiresome on the eyes.

The fact that you are getting a server error means that the problem is with the server at the other end as in your computer is unable to connect to it for some reason.

A few questions for you;

Have you tried using an Ethernet connection.

What is the server you are trying to connect to.

What game is it that you are trying to play and last but not least have you had to purchase this game.

I deleted norton becuase another forum told me this was the issue
Defender is shown to be running on your computer which is good but we should check to see if there are any left over traces of Norton as that could cause you problems with being able to connect to the internet, let us know the answers to the above first then we can do a check for any Norton leftovers.

i can not use an ethernet cable because i dont have acess to one also every game ive tried does not work apex legends, csgo, valorant and even fortnite they all have some sort of problem with the internet/ connection to server

You should get yourself an Ethernet cable and not just for testing but for the long term, gaming quality is so much better when using Ethernet, wifi not only has a weaker signal but it can also have a lot of interference around it which makes matters worse.

If you do not have an Ethernet cable one other test you can do is ask a friend or family member if you can take the notebook round and try connecting to their router/internet.

We will check for any possible traces of Norton now.

Post an Autoruns log for us, see here

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.

2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".

3: Click on the "Hide Signed Microsoft and Windows Entries” option.

4: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.

5: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop > when you click on File > Save you will then get the option to Save as type, click the drop down tab, change it to Text and then click the Save button.

6: Attach to your next reply.

i saw on my phone that i should try a diffrent interent, i brought my laptop to another place and it works perfectly but is there anything i can do to make the internet work there? its in minneapolis is it possible all the signals interefere with eacother? i also did not check to see if norton is still active because the games worked right off the bat here.

This proves that there is nothing wrong with your computer and that the problem is with the internet connection at your property, unfortunately other than suggesting that you hard reset your router there is nothing that anyone other than your ISP can do about the issue I`m afraid.

Would mark this as having been solved tbh Veeg as the computer has been proven to be all good and the OPs internet service not so good, the latter being something that we can do nothing about I mentioned to the OP that only the ISP can sort the issue.
