Status
Not open for further replies.
Dell Inspiration laptop
Win7 Pro
64bit

I usually run FireFox as my main browser but have had IE(11) as a back Up..I am not sure what I did as my old 76 yr old brain is not the sharpest especially in this stuff..

If I click on IE the page comes up blank and when I try and reinstall I get A failed mgs saying I have another version installed on here..If there is one I can't find it..I removed it from
programs and start menu...now a blank window..

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

Thanks, did as you said..told IE was restored..but the only way I can find it is type EI into search box on startup menu and then get the blank page..
And can find the reset browser app...does it just go away after use? ?

Thanks,
hefs

The system is only affected when you open Internet Explorer correct?

Internet Explorer can be configured to display a blank page and not a web page. Which can be change to any web page you like under Internet Options.

Open Internet Explorer
Click on Tools
Click on Internet Options
In the box type the web address to the page you want it to open to.
If you have opened that web page then just click on Use Current
Use Default
will put it to what ever the default page for MSN
(Have seen it default to other depending on the system manufacturer)

The following will uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer 11. Let us know how you get along

Open Control Panel
Open Program and Features
On the left side click on Turn Windows Features On or Off
Take the Check Mark out of Internet Explorer 11
Click OK
(May have to wait a few minutes for it to complete)
Close to you desktop and reboot
(I like to reboot on stuff like this you may no have to)
Once the system has rebooted repeat the steps and put the Check back in for Internet Explorer 11

Thanks,ok here goes..could not do first one because EI is blank thus no tool bar...did the second one and still get same thing...when i find
EI in start menu it says EI(no add ons)...
I tried downloading a newEI11 and my virus says it has a PUP....
Could all of this be part o the original problem started with over in Win7 group and jmarket is working on with me? I got an error 84 ..we have tried a couple
of things but no luck yet...I still can't restore...

Thanks,
hefs

Do you per chance have an other user on that system or can you create one and check to see if the same issue is happening there.

Open Internet Explorer and just to the right of the tab Right click and select Menu.
This should bring up the pull down menus so you can get to Internet Options.

When you did the second part in Post # 6 is when you got the PUP warning?

Yes lets wait until you get done with @jmarket on the other thread since what he is helping you which could correct the issue you are experiencing here.

  • Download AdwCleaner and move it to your computer Desktop;
  • Right-click on AdwCleaner.exe and select Run as Administrator;
  • Click Yes to accept the User Account Control security warning that may appear;
  • Click on the blue button 'I AGREE';
  • Click on the Scan Now button;
  • Let the scan complete. Once it's done, make sure that every item listed is checked and click on the Clean & Repair button;
  • Click on the Clean & Restart Now button;
  • After the restart, a log will open when logging in.
  • Please attach that log in your next reply.
