Hello, looking for a bit of help regarding a network connection that suddenly ceased to work. I have a rather large wire home network that connects to all sorts of stuff, and for that reason have used the old workgroup type of connection instead of homegroup. Windows File explorer no longer shows my network, as does a couple of my file managers usually used to access files and my NAS boxes. This Windows 10 PC's can no longer see any other pc's although it will print to my network printers, and other pc's can see and access its shared folders. It has internet access at normal speed.

Running my network scanner on this pc that wont connect shows this, and allows me to access files etc. This obviously is not a convenient way.

It will Ping everything ok, here it pings a NAS and another Win10 PC. The router also pings fine.

I have checked my network configuration by
  • Temporarily turning off Windows Firewall.
  • Temporarily turning off AV.
  • making sure workgroup name hasn't changed and all is the same.
  • Ensuring subnet is the same.
  • Trying enable and disable DHCP.
  • Resetting and rebooting router.
  • Changing static IP's.
  • Using Windows 10 Creators Update Network reset.
  • Rebooting 50 times, well heaps anyway.
  • Connecting other NAS boxes that have not been recently connected, just to ensure nothing had changed in my connected gear.
  • Run system restore to a time when the network was functional.
  • Reinstalled the adapter driver.
Yes I know my routers DHCP pool overlaps some of the changed Ip addresses issued but this will be addressed after the network connection is fixed.

Will be thankful for any clues to fix this, and thanks in advance.:)

Here is a MTB log too.

Well another day, another surprise. Turned the PC on and fired up my favourite file manager and bingo, all currently turned on network devices are up and running, available to the rogue PC. The only difference between today and yesterday was that the other Windows 10 PC (Blacky) was turned on first yesterday, which it hardly ever is.

Perhaps it is some sort of Master browser conflict. What I will do is repeat the boot up sequence tomorrow and see if I can replicate the problem. At least it looks like this network setup on this PC is ok???

I will leave this thread open for a couple of days in case someone wants to chip in, and thanks. Heres the network today in my file manager.

I can confirm that starting Blacky (the other windows 10 pc) first before this one does indeed prevent this pc accessing the lan. At least I know the workaround, if not the fix.

If this windows 10 pc is booted prior to Blacky (also windows 10) it becomes master browser and everything works perfectly with access everywhere.

If Backy is booted before this pc (office6410) then Blacky becomes master browser and office6410 has no network access.
