You helped me previously https://pchelpforum.net/t/freezing.45273/post-85329

It seems that I'm still having issues related to this issue. Current setup attached.

I am only having issues with games now. I couldn't run Anno 1800, asked for help from them, they asked me to do a DISM restore health and a sfc scannow, it said it was able to repair some corrupt files and told me to restart, when I did that, my computer wouldn't load. It just stayed stuck on the loading screen with the owner avatar and the endless spinning circle, but my screen would turn off for about 5 sec and back for less than a second repeatedly. I left it for 4 hours to see if it would finally load, but nothing worked. A hard reset wouldn't work, only a 10 sec power button hold would turn it off, and I could get to troubleshooting. eventually, I reinstalled windows, again. Tried the dism and scannow on a fresh windows install and it did the same thing. So I am basically stuck there. I can run Factorio and my Photoshop, Illustrator without freezing, and everything else seems ok but when I try to play Anno or Two Point Hospital on high or medium settings, not even ultra, Anno doesn't even load, TPH, I can play for a bit and then it hard locks. I have Driver Booster and it says I'm up to date, I have the latest Radeon driver for the GPU. Speccy doesn't show my PSU, I have the 750W Gold Rated PSU from my previous thread. PSU calculator says I only need 446W.

Help me finally get this dang thing usable for anything newer than a '90's game. It seems like the only thing left to replace is the motherboard.

Hello Doylecan.

Please only ever post the Speccy url and not the report itself, the url gives no personal information away + is easier for helpers to work with.

First thing that I suggest is that you get rid of anything related to Iobit and make sure that the Windows Power Plan is set to Balanced, see info below regarding driver updating and junk software such as what you have installed.

Active power scheme: Driver Booster Power Plan

(1) Once Windows has been installed, you install the necessary drivers for the MB and other hardware and then leave well alone, drivers should not be allowed to auto update and you should never update any driver/s unless the new drivers are intended to resolve a specific issue that you are having, installing new drivers unnecessarily can actually cause you the very issues that any new drivers are intended to resolve and uninstalling the new drivers may not resolve the problem/s that installing the new drivers has caused.

Depending on priority it can take many months before the driver provider releases any fix and they sometimes do not even bother.

(2) You will not see anything like this recommended on any reputable forum, they are at best a gimmick and at worse a danger to the operating systems registry, it is an old article but the author is still highly respected and tbh Ive not seen it explained better than at the miekiemoes' Blog here

IOBit Uninstalled and power plan changed.

Note: IOBit was not on the computer when the identical issues were happening before. Because I haven't found any solution and my system crashes and won't load after a clean windows install and trying a DISM and Scannow, before IOBit was installed, I was trying to cover all the bases to make sure I hadn't missed something, like drivers. I have a decent GPU, plenty of Ram, I only use around 5 programs on the system and a couple games and can't run a mid level game. I don't mess around with the registry myself, I've used Windows for 20+ years without an issue until the last 6 months, and I've basically replaced everything, yet I can't find a solution. Thanks

Sorry but your previous thread was with your approval marked as being solved two months ago with the cause being determined a poor quality and spec PSU, there is also the matter of what you mention in your above OP

I am only having issues with games now. I couldn't run Anno 1800, asked for help from them, they asked me to do a DISM restore health and a sfc scannow, it said it was able to repair some corrupt files and told me to restart,
There is zero wrong with any of your hardware and even if there was no running of DISM commands or SFC would fix it. IOBIT software as explained above however can not only hose the OS but also needlessly update drivers and create all sorts of problems for folk.

Do the following to put your hardware through its paces;

Use the free versions at the following two links.

Stress test your GPU with Furmark

Check your FPS with Valley

I thought it was fixed, but it isn't so I am where I am, trying to fix this issue. Forget about IObit, I uninstalled it. The issue with the hard lock was happening before and after it was installed. The issue that my computer wouldn't load after doing the DISM and scannow and restarting, like the tech guy suggested, happened before and after it as well. I installed it to check drivers because I couldn't figured out why the computer wouldn't load doing a simple procedure, and it had never doneanything like that before. The IObit company had over a dozen programs, and you say I'm an idiot for having it on my computer. While I completely agree with what you said, based on material you provided, that it should not be installed, it did not cause the two issues I am trying to solve because they both happened before it was ever on my system. So it is now gone so let's move on. I didn't say there was anything wrong with my hardware, I explained what was happening, Anno wouldn't run past the introduction menu, TPH hard locks the computer after 10 minutes. Transport Fever 2 does a test and suggests settings for the game, tells me to play on ultra high settings, yet the game hard locks my system, so I reduce the settings to high and it still locks, reduced them to medium and still locks. I ran the Valley Benchmark because I was able to find instructions, I attached. After it was done, it said I was on Windows 8, I've never had Windows 8 ever, I am on Windows 10, so I don't know what that means. Furmark gave a way better score. I have no idea what any of this means. Attached the screenshots.

I am telling you what the symptoms are and following directions, so far your direction is to get rid of IObit and I have.
Run tests, Done.

The IObit company had over a dozen programs, and you say I'm an idiot for having it on my computer.
Where has anyone suggested that you are an idiot? IOBIT spend vast amounts of cash on marketing and on the face of it what they offer seems to fix all known problems.

We are here to try and help folks out for free, not to be insulting or critical to them.

If you feel that I have been anything less than civil let us know and I will ask for someone else to take over your thread, I will not be intentionally rude to anyone but likewise I will not be treated like a doormat either.

You are correct, you didn't 'say' that I'm an Idiot. I apologize.

What you have done is mention 3 times that IObit is junk, twice after I uninstalled it and explained that it wasn't on the system when the 2 issues began, while also stating that they spend tons of money to make it seem like their products are reputable, so it wouldn't be a stretch for a non-professional Windows operator to assume that their programs are legit. Also, when I explained that a tech guy for Anno had instructed me to run DISM and SFC, and it somehow caused my computer to not load, you say:
zero wrong with any of your hardware and even if there was no running of DISM commands or SFC would fix it.
That was extremely condescending. I knew it wouldn't fix hardware, I was following directions and something bad happened that I can't fix, and I clearly stated that, and I'm asking for help with that issue, along with the hard locking issue.

I thanked you for your help in the previous thread, I agreed with you about IObit after reading the material that you provided and uninstalled it, following your directions, again, and thanked you. How am I treating you like a doormat????

You have asked me to uninstall a program that had nothing to do with the problems because it wasn't on my computer when the problems began, I did. You asked me to download and run 2 testing programs, both of which have absolutely no explanatory documentation on how to use them anywhere on their websites or forums or accompanying the software and can damage hardware if used incorrectly or even correctly, I did, and posted my results.

These issues have been affecting me for over 6 months and I've asked for help everywhere, with no progress, except here in my previous thread, successfully replacing my PSU, which in hindsight, did not fix the original issue, as I have recently discovered. I am not disregarding your help, I have, and am thanking you for it, yet I am no further along.

Where are we right now, compared to my first post, on the path towards finding a solution to my issue?

Hello Doylecan, and hope you don't mind me butting in here after reading your threads. I am glad the new PSU made a difference to your computer and that you say you now only have issues with gaming. It is noted you have a new windows installation and it is good you agreed to remove Iobit from your system. There is a chance this issue is caused by a driver issue, and you say you are unaware if your chipset drivers have been installed? This may be a good start by installing your chipset drivers.

Also you may have less than stellar Windows installed graphics drivers, and perhaps you could try unistalling the existing drivers with DDU and installing a new driver FROM THE MANUFACTURER, and not allowing windows to install it.

From your previous thread you say you have windows on your ssd and games on your hitachi drive. I take it you are aware doing this will lose any advantage in speed from an SSD as the hitachi drive still has to be accessed (at its lower than ssd rated speed) to access your game data. Suggest you try installing a game on the SSD drive to test it.

Heres a link to uninstalling your amd graphics drivers

so try
Install your chipset drivers
remove and reinstall your graphics drivers

I will gladly do what you recommend if you think it is necessary, knowing that I use AMD's Radeon app to update the Adrenaline driver. It is currently up to date with the 20.2.1 version. Screenshot attached.

Windows mem diag tool returned nothing wrong with RAM.
CHKDSK returns nothing wrong.
Used AI Suite 3 & EZ Update and it said no need to update my bios environment.
AMD Chipset is up to date. Installed by AMD not Windows.

Hi how are you determining if your chipset drivers are installed, is there any confusion with chipset drivers and bios/firmware?

Remove any existing graphics drivers with DDU, then reinstall from the MANUFACTURER of the cards web site only

There is no confusion on my part. I downloaded the drivers from the ASUS website, uninstalled the already current Adrenalin drivers and rebooted, then installed the current adrenalin drivers again. I also downloaded other drivers from ASUS to be sure I was up to date everywhere, and I was.

I noticed this morning that I had ASUS & AMD on the brain. My last reply should have read that I installed the drivers from the AMD website, and also other drivers from the ASUS site, like the bios-utilities, utilities, sata, usb, etc.

It must be just me, somehow you asked
how are you determining if your chipset drivers are installed
immediately after I said
AMD Chipset is up to date. Installed by AMD not Windows.
and I also provided a screenshot of AMD's software the reply directly above that.
And then your last question, after I clearly stated, (ASUS/AMD swap not-withstanding) that I had uninstalled and installed from the manufacturer's website. along with other driver's from the motherboard's website.
All this in 3 days.
Thanks for your help.
I'm out.
