You can simply remove it without any issue. Your items from your phone are still backed up in the cloud. You are just removing the door to it so to speak.

Thank you but my phone has not been attached to icloud in any way, I just don't like it but I don't want to remove it and find out I have lost all my documents or family photos that cant be replaced ...is that likely to happen

No, this has nothing to do with your photos on your machine. Icloud once installed on your computer would have allowed you to access your photos on your iphone or other i device(s). You are 100 Percent safe to remove the program from your machine. Without fear of losing anything. Or simply perform a system restore on your machine to a point prior to having installed the program.
