I have a very specific problem and I'm going to lay it out as clearly as possible. This is my setup iBUYPOWER - Desktop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 1TB Hard Drive + 120GB Solid State Drive. This is my monitor Samsung - 390 Series 24" LED Curved FHD FreeSync Monitor. The computer came with Windows 10 fully installed. I have updated windows 10. I have updated my drivers for both the windows display adapter and Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 that are found under device manager. Here is the issue..the monitor's resolution is locked. I have read various tutorials and videos on how this is a common issue with windows 10 and by simply disabling the windows display adapter and restarting, this can be solved and the resolution can be altered or unlocked. This doesn't work for me. I followed a video step by step

and between 2:30 and 3 minutes in he restarts his computer, and is able to then adjust his monitor's resolution.

After restarting my computer the option to adjust the screen resolution is still greyed out and locked. Everything else runs fine, and the purpose of the computer is (mostly) gaming. with an HDMI cord the resolution defaults to 1920 x 1080 and has the same issue of locking out. I tried 2 games and the load screens we're excellent, the graphics in the game we're excellent, yet the fps ran between 1-3, at the games absolute lowest settings the fps got up to 6. My initial thought was to adjust the game's resolution, which is also locked. Upon thinking the inability to adjust any* game's resolution is odd, I began searching and have been trying solution after potential solution for 2 days, which has me in this cycle of updating, disabling drivers, restarting, and going back to square one to look for the next possible solution.

So, upon calling a friend who has a similar setup this was the solution. The HDMI cable was plugged in to the motherboard's port, I simply plugged it into the graphic card's port and it unlocked the resolution's adjustability immediately.
