I want to disable/uninstall/make OneDrive go away!

Do you have Office365 installed?
I do not have Office365-I do have Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook

Did you download OneDrive from Microsoft directly?
I don't remember how I got OneDrive. It has been too long ago.

To clarify, when you went to uninstall OneDrive, did you select Apps and Features after right clicking on the Windows Icon?
When I was uninstalling OneDrive I went to "Control Panel" & clicked on "Programs & Features" . There I found OneDrive & I uninstalled it. I did not go to Apps & Features at that time. I did look there now & I don't see OneDrive at all.

After I uninstalled OneDrive I went into the start menu and removed OneDrive from the list. At that point I connected my cell phone and OneDrive still popped up--it was still working.

Did you read through this from Microsoft
I have read so many things in the last week, at this point I think that I did read it. But I am reading it again.

This is "Unlink OneDrive" https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0

Windows

  1. Open OneDrive settings (select the OneDrive cloud icon in your notification area, and then select the OneDrive Help and Settings icon then Settings.)
I cannot get into "Setting" with the directions above. However, if I click on the three dots that are to the right of my icon (my pix) then I can click on "Settings" from the list. The choices are---Refresh--Slideshow--Send feedback--Settings
2. Go to the Account tab.
When I look through the "Settings" list, I do not see "Account" Therefore I can't select "Unlink this PC" . It is not there!
3. Select Unlink this PC.

I also read the "Hide or uninstall OneDrive"

Hide or uninstall OneDrive

On some versions of Windows, you can also hide or uninstall OneDrive. You can also uninstall the OneDrive mobile app from Android and iOS devices.

Hide OneDrive

Uninstall OneDrive

You won't lose files or data by uninstalling OneDrive from your computer. You can always access your files by signing in to OneDrive.com.
Windows 10
  1. Select the Start button, type Programs in the search box, and then select Add or remove programs in the list of results.
  2. Under Apps & features, find and select Microsoft OneDrive, and then select Uninstall. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. I followed the directions above but I don't see OneDrive any where.

I really appreciate every ones help. I realize that it is difficult to try to explain what is going on without being here looking at the PC. I just hope that I can make OneDrive go away!

When you asked "Did you download OneDrive from Microsoft directly?" did you mean when I originally installed OneDrive or did you mean recently?

If you meant recently, no I actually did not download OneDrive from Microsoft directly. See post #15

It might be worth trying the online installer if this doesn't work.

I believe Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Onedrive, etc) could have something to do with this.

Open Apps and Features, type 365 into the search bar, select Microsoft 365, Modify, and then Online Repair.

You could try deleting this, but if it doesn't repair anything I have my doubts that will be a solution/

I don't have Microsoft 365. What is the "online installer"?

You have the office suite without Office 365?

The OneDrive link in post #21 is an online installer, I would try downloading OneDrive and uninstalling it through the Apps and Features menu to see if that helps the computer understand that you have deleted it.

Yes, I have Word--Excel--Power Point --Outlook

Well, as I figured, when I downloaded OneDrive using the post #21 I got this:

Now what??

Did you sign in to one drive.com?
I am normally signed all of the time. I just signed out and then signed back in and I didn't notice any difference.

I don't no the difference between being signed in or signed out. When ever I connect my cell phone to my pc then One Drive automatically pops up!

Do you know of a program that I can use to transfer my photos from my cell phone to my pc?

At this point I am thinking that maybe I should use my other pc to transfer my photos. I guess it has OneDrive but I have never set it up to for anything. On the other pc I don't see OneDrive in the "Programs & Features" but I do see it in the start menu.

You say sign in
is this via the app or the website

What phone android, samsung, iphone etc
Sign in-left click on OneDrive icon at right side top. Then I get this
IMG_2176.JPG

Then I click on "Sign in"

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S22.

When I connected my phone to my other pc OneDrive did not open, so maybe I'm okay with using the other pc instead of screwing around with my first pc! I guess I screwed up when I uninstalled the first pc!

I go to onedrive.com and sign in
Click on Account manager - top right hand corner
Next to my device I click on view details
Then click on remove/unlink
Pics attached
Samsung Galaxy S22.
With a Samsung you can open via explorer
and copy photos
or use myphone explorer https://www.fjsoft.at/en/

I don’t have an experience with removing OneDrive but I’ll see what I can offer.

Those programs are part of Office/Microsoft 365 so if these are installed then they‘re either the free version (view files only), the web version (you have to view/edit online or you have Office/365 installed & activated.
If OneDrive is installed then you should be able to open the settings to disable auto upload/backup of Photos. Then you can try Revo Uninstaller to cleanly remove OneDrive & scan for leftovers.
https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-uninstaller-free/ Windows/Microsoft apps are under their own tab.

Your photos are completely different from what I have. I don't have anything that says "Account manager" There for I cannot click on anything that you suggested!
If I left click on the three dots, this is what pops up. If I click on "Settings" see below:

After trying several times to transfer my photos from my phone to my "other" pc, I finally transferred them. I just hope that I can write it down so I can do it again!!

Okay, I think that I am at a point where I need to use a "work around" with OneDrive. My "other" pc also has OneDrive and it opens whenever I connect my phone to either of my pc's. The "work around" is this--when I connect my phone to my pc and OneDrive opens then I just "X" it out. I then look for my Galaxy S22 phone in the list of items on the toolbar below "Quick access". I then click on Galaxy S22>internal storage>DCIM>camera and there are all the videos & photos that are on my phone. And I can put them where ever I want to!

I now know that OneDrive can not be uninstalled. And I can live with that!

Thanks for everyone that has posted! I appreciate all of your help. Merry Christmas to all!
