I play League of Legends and lately i have huge FPS drops from 120 fps to 40, and it's really frequent, it makes me angry and i can't play properly.

I really don't know much about computers, usually i try searching the internet for help and here's what i already tried doing and none of these helped my problem:
  • Defragmenting my SSD and Hard Drive
  • Restoring my SSD and reinstalling Windows, my purpose with this was cleaning the SSD and making space on it (HD is untouched, maybe the problem is there?)
  • Both the drivers and system are updated
  • Tried playing it with antivirus disabled (i use Kaspersky security cloud with gaming mode on)
  • Reducing game texture quality
Here are my specs: graphic card geforce GTX 1060, processor intel core 6400 2.70ghz, 8GB RAM, 111GB SATA SSD, 931GB hard drive, two monitors the main one being LG FULL HD ([email protected]) and secondary is 912Vwa ([email protected]) and the motherboard ASUS H110M-C/BR

Any help would be much appreciated, please be patient with me since i'm really not the expert on the subject

An online multiplayer game that is known to cause players the exact same problem the world over, same as another well known game Warzone.

We can help you to confirm whether or not the problem is with your hardware or security settings but should it turn out to be with the game itself you will need to open a ticket with the game provider.

Let us know what you want to do.

I believe it's not the game itself since i had to reinstall it when i restored my SSD and i never had this problem before when playing League on my computer. I'm not too fond of sending a ticket to the game provider since i've asked them for help before and they will only tell me to do the basics that i've tried doing already.

Not the game itself but the games servers and like I say we can help you test your PC but cannot help you with the LoL game itself.

Not a gamer myself so not much help when it comes to FPS but over the years through helping people I have found that when it comes to online gaming there are two things that hinder gaming, a poor internet connection and browser security plug ins, sort them and you are usually good to go.

Something for you to do to see how your present set up handles video when not online gaming;

Use the free versions at the following links;

Stress test your GPU with Furmark

Check your FPS etc with SUPERPOSITION

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

Ok so
I tried uninstalling all of my browser security plugins and nothing changed. About my internet connection, it is good and i'm 100% sure it's not the problem since my ping when gaming is very stable.
Now about the programs i installed, i never used it before so forgive me if i did something wrong but these are the results i got:

You did both tests correctly and the fact your hardware passed the Furmark test more or less proves that there is nothing wrong with it.

Did you compare your results online for both tests, you are running pretty old hardware by todays standards so don`t compare your results to those using the latest CPUs and GPUs.

For you to do;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Speccy is flagging up a couple of issues and one or more of them could be causing your issue, you won`t know until you correct them either, I will go through them as they are list in Speccy.

Storage
111GB SATA SSD (SATA (SSD)) This drive is far too small to have Windows on, you are missing numerous updates and will soon run out of room for them to go which can cause Windows corruption, slow down the computer and put you at risk of malware attack.

Operating System
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Computer type: Desktop
Installation Date: 09/10/2021 03:23:11 There are no drivers shown to have been installed for the MB or storage devices which means that your hardware will be using generic drivers from Microsoft which will affect hardware performance.

Firewall
Firewall: Enabled
Display Name: Kaspersky Security Cloud
Antivirus

Kaspersky Security Cloud
Antivirus: Enabled
Virus Signature Database: Up to date Why are you using these, you don`t need either of them and both are likely to slow down your computer and the internet connection in particular.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: Economia de energia This looks to mean something along the lines of power saver, is that correct.

CCleanerSkipUAC - manup
IObitSelfCheckTask
SmartDefrag_AutoAnalyze Three things that you definitely should not have on your computer, they are best a gimmick and at worst a danger as they most often break things, IOBIT especially and is world renowned for suggesting fixes then asking for a free before they will provide the information.

You will not see anything like this recommended on any reputable forum, they are at best a gimmick and at worse a danger to the operating systems registry, it is an old article but the author is still highly respected and tbh Ive not seen it explained better than at the miekiemoes' Blog here

I have some questions:
You said i don't need kaspersky, is it bad? Is there another antivirus you recommend?
I've installed smartdefrag since i needed something to defragment my computer and a friend recommended this one to me. Can you recommend me a better one?
Also please, if i'm not asking much, can you recommend me articles/threads or anything that talks about computer health and how to keep it running smooth? I've had computers and many problems over the years that i didn't know how to fix or how to start searching about it, it's a subject that interest me a lot and i care about my computers since i use them so much. I would like to know a good and reliable startpoint since i people seem to disagree a lot on what is good and what is bad for a computer.

About the "Active power scheme: Economia de energia" it's portuguese for power saving :)

Will deal with one thing at a time so as to avoid overloading or confusing you.

Any third party software that you install on your computer can impact performance and AV programs like AVG, Kaspersky, McAfee and Norton are among the worst, as previously stated you don`t want or need Kaspersky, see explanation as to why below;

Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

Removal tool for Kaspersky here

Once Kaspersky been correctly uninstalled, restart, check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

Post back with an update when done.

Can we have a new Speccy url so we can make sure that all traces of Kaspersky have gone.

Can you translate what the below say`s, i`m guessing that it says power saver or similar.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: Economia de energia

I believe you missed it when i said it but yes it does mean power saver :)

I did I'm afraid :whistle:

Change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, your GPU will not get enough power otherwise.

Download, install and make Chrome your default browser.

See how things go after that.

I recently moved from Chrome to Microsoft Edge because Chrome uses a lot of ram and i don't have much so i figured it would be better for the computer performance overall.

Can you recommend me a good defragment software? Also a good and reliable place to learn how to keep my computer always smooth and clean?

I already planned on sending my computer for professional maintenance since my efforts are resulting in no improvements, i'm hoping he can help me solve it. I believe you can close this thread after your awswer since i won't be able to reply anymore :)
But thanks a lot for your time and patience!! I'm glad we tried.

No problem but fwiw you are giving up on this too soon, there is nothing wrong with your computer hardware wise.

Windows defrag You should not run this too often and for two reasons, it wears the drive and overdoing it can actually fragment the data on a hard drive, an average user should not defrag any more than three or four times a year, power users who do a lot of file swapping once or twice a month.

You are welcome :)
