I have an HP Win10 desktop and it's the worst computer I've ever had. It's about 4 yrs old.
It's always been slow, I constantly have to find fixes for things (sound didn't work, microphone didn't work, etc etc)
The latest problem is that suddenly the windows store is gone. Can't reset it, it literally isn't there. So I lost functionality of a couple of items I bought through it. I've tried every fix, nothing works.
Apparently you can't just re-download it!!!
Anyway I want to get a new computer, but not sure which would be the best choice for me.
I'm an author so have office 2016 installed.
I also create my own graphics and have the Affinity programs (similar to Photoshop) and store a lot of graphics with layers (book covers, promos, etc.)
Need videos on the net (youtube, classes) to run without issues.
Would also like a computer with a voice to text that actually works for dictation capabilities.
I don't want a bunch of bloaterware on it.
Not a gamer (though I used to be)☺️
Any suggestion for a computer for me? I'm not a computer tech, I'm an author.
Thanks ❤️

No suggestion for a new PC but have you tried an in-place repair to fix any problems?
Download the media creation tool, run this & choose to upgrade now.
Choose to keep everything.
If the store still isn’t installed afterwards then you can try Solution 9 here: Use the Preinstalled Apps Zip to Reinstall Microsoft Store:

I know you authors are anal with your backups of your current manuscript (my wife is also an author) but just make sure you have backed up all your personal files before starting to 'fix' Windows.
it's always better to be safe than sorry.

as well as what Bastet has suggested, you could start an elevated command prompt and use the sfc /scannow command to see if it finds and fixes corrupted system files.

then there are also the commands;
dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /analyzecomponentstore /norestart
dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase
to try and fix things.

but from memory when I've had the Store go missing as well, I had to do a repair reinstall of Windows as suggested already.

I do, but I'm losing confidence, lol.
Here's what's happened so far:

Windows Store missing from my win10 computer:

#1 and #2 were tried before I came here...
1.First tried troubleshooter ... winstoreapps ... runtroubleshooter
it initialized, then “couldn’t identify the problem”

2.Next tried tried wsreset – nothing happened

3. Tried the windows reinstall, didn't help.

4. Next tried running the dism commands:
CheckHealth = no corruption dected, operation completed successfully
ScanHealth = No component store corruption detected
Restore Health = Completed successfully
Restarted computer – NO CHANGE, STORE STILL MISSING

5. Sfc scan now = “Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.”

Went to Microsoft support chat,
They took remote control of the computer, ran the windows reinstall, (I had already tried that, didn’t work - he asked me why I thought that would help! I said it was on a Microsoft page as a fix! and then that's what he did, lol) while it was running he left. Nothing happened.

That’s where I am now. No windows store. Its tile shows but it’s grayed out. I have some apps that no longer work because I bought them from the windows store. :/ And I'm losing hair! :)

there are two types of Windows reinstalls - one where it 'repairs' Windows and leaves all your programs and files alone.
this normally fixes a lot of stuff, but not always, and I feel this is what has been tried on your PC, twice, without success.
the other install is a 'fresh' install and completely wipes the PC, and because you have not mentioned having to restore all your data and reload all your program, this type of install must not have been done.

and sadly due to the lack of fixing the issue, the fresh install may be what you need to do.

BUT... something to try first... the Store is tied to a login profile, not the PC, so create another user account and log in on that, of still no Store, I'd be backing up my files and doing the fresh install.

once you are ready to proceed down that path, click on Start, literally start typing reset and pick Reset this PC, then click Get Started.
