How to revert to previous installation of Steam?

I made the mistake of reinstalling Steam and lost access to my friend's games. I heard that these below steps may work to go back to the previous installation of Steam? --

1. Close the Steam application.
2. Go to the Steam installation folder at C: Program FilesSteam.
3. Locate the following files – SteamApps, Steam.exe, and Userdata. Copy these files to a different location.
4. Next, delete all the files in the Steam directory.
5. Copy the SteamApps, Steam.exe, and Userdata files back to the Steam directory.

Do you guys know if this would work? And where could I copy the files to (in step 3)? Thank you guys so much!

There’s no option to restore a previous version of Steam only the ability to install an older version.
Were you logged in with your friends account to play their games? Or were you using illegal/not recommended way to do this? If the latter & Steam found out then they may have blocked the user & locked their games from being played.
