Not open for further replies.
I accidentally installed something, and somehow it changed the extention/type of file of most of my files like my videos and pictures(png, jpg etc)
is there any way i can remove this or get my files back THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

What did you "accidently" install and what makes you think a virus caused this?

What extension were changed from what to what new extension?

Kiratos is ransomware, that is if you have it. What messages have you had about it?

I take it you have recent system backups?

I don't really know what it was.but it's name and icon was the same as IDM. When i was installing it i realized it was not IDM so i "end task" it using the task manager but i already finished installing.

pngs, jpg, exe, shortcuts, mp4, torrents they all changed into a kiratos file and now i cant open it

No.

Whilst an attempt could be made to clean this pc, it could never be trusted to be secure again. Best recommendation is reformat and start afresh.

THEN CREATE A SYSTEM BACKUP.....Data you have not backed up is data you don't care about......and then practise safe browsing.

I guess i really don't have a choice now but to reformat now This will never ever happen to me again. Thank you for your time! I really appreciate it!

That is definitely the better option. Sorry to be blunt but that is the safest and MOST SECURE way to fix this.

Also maybe look at better protection, although no security app will stop every threat.
