May I begin by thanking forum members in solving my last post,my present post is a request for a detailed explanation as to the easiest way to transfer APK apps (Google apkpure android play store) from my laptop to my cars android media device?
I attempted USB but it went unrecognised by both laptop and media device. Apparently it can be done by Bluetooth?? Also by WiFi?
I have both excellent wifi and bluetooth coverage in the car, but no file manger in car android unit. To that end one of the apps waiting to be installed is APKpure ,which states having it installed will allow installation of all and any legal APK files??? This would be the equivalent of having Google play store installed, only in android form.
Is it as simple as taking laptop to car, activating Bluetooth on both (laptop and android device) then transfer by bluetooth,or do I have to pair or sync??
Have to admit my knowledge of both Android and APK files is scant to say the least!!!
Once again any advice would be appreciated, the hope is that once I have an active android touch screen I can reinstall my IGO9 sat nav which " disappeared" during update! It requires an active android file manager or similar to allow installation.

All I can advise is you take the laptop to the car and put both in bluetooth pair mode and see if they connect.
The usb you tried may not work as it could be a special make cable.
The wiring inside the cable can be changed by the car people to force you to use them

Thanks, once its cooled down I will go out and give it a go. I take your meaning regarding USB.I have some that are designed for heavy data use etc,but the mini usb connection doesn't conform with the car!!

Some! Both the laptop and the in car device found each other and paired. Attempts to install via bluetooth have I think so far failed? Im given the option to send to bluetooth device, do as requested, but no sign of app on car media device....I will give it a few more attempts and then get back,,,,,,,,,,dont wish to give you guys too much hassle,I normally sort these tech blips out OK just cannot see the wood for the trees at the moment!!

Hi Guys may I ask you in the nicest way possible, to be a little patient when it comes to my replying, if there was a way to PM I would but doesn't seem available on this forum.
In a nutshell Im no spring chicken, have a couple of very dodgy health problems, enough said!
I really appreciate the input that I have had, but some days don't tick for me, but I've taken on board all that has been suggested and will beat this before it beats me!!
In one way its quite funny, as I'm desperate to get my sat nav back up and running, but as my wife said its not as if we are going anywhere, or even these days have the ability!!! But I have always hated it when a machine or tech, attempts to get the better of me, so in some ways its now become a battle of wits!!

no sweat Caskin.
also, to reciprocate your offer of patience, you'll also have to be patient with us if any of us keep reminding you to update your thread. (y)
we have a pretty tight policy of not leaving threads dangling, and after a few days of inactivity, we ask the OP if they still need help.

so if any of us forget, and give you a gentle poke in the ribs, it's just that, a gentle poke.

PS: and to fully bring you up to speed, only Peter is a half wit, the rest of us are full wits.

Had to take a trip in one of those free yellow taxis with the blue lights on top! Hotel was rubbish every bed full, and room service although excellent was limited due to lack of staff.Anyway back in the bosom so to speak, hope to pick up on this asap, as Im intrigued to see if we can get it to work...watch this space!!

Ok we will keep waiting.
Ok gentleman back in the saddle!!
Latest attempt ,all APK files required are in place on my laptop.
With laptop in car, blue tooth activated , both devices car device (In car kit), plus lap top connected, paired without a problem ,Really thought we were home and dry.
Next step was to transfer files, clicked on file required plus send to bluetooth device.
Bluetooth box came up on lap top screen, showing all connected bluetooth devices, among them the "car kit" (same name applied to Iphone connection).
Really pleased now, thinking it would all be a piece of cake, selected file, clicked open, files was accepted by bluetooth and indicated sending, then the following message appeared: Windows was unable to transfer some files???❓No longer able to proceed past this point at this moment in time!

Are you doing only 1 file at a time?
Yes......could it be because they are "Andriod" files that windows doesn't recognise them?
They were downloaded from Google Android play store?
I also have by the way, the original mini sd card containing all the files(fully updated) for my sat nav system ,that is also recognised by the car kit but will not install , advice from the IGO update site stated that to install it, I require a file manager installed on car device, hence the reason for attempting to transfer these files from my laptop to car device.
I believe I mentioned at beginning of post that all files are APK (do not fully understand APK system but gather its android?)
I have a strong wireless connection at the car,is there any difference between transferring by wireless as opposed to Bluetooth,or are they one and the same thing?
If there is a difference and I can transfer by wireless, how does that work please?
Incidentally thanks for staying with me.
