Hiding my own email server with NAS?

Hey everyone,
I have a Western Digital my cloud PR4100 NAS hit with 16th in raid 5. I was wondering if it is possible to create and just my own private email server on it, and if so, how would I go about doing that? Any suggestions would be a huge help. If I've never tried this before, and I don't have a huge networking background.

Thanks!

Creating your own email server is possible but there are things you need to be aware of. First and foremost is the question of whether your ISP will allow it. Most ISPs block the ports used in outgoing email servers. You can get around this by using non-standard ports. Also you need a static IP with an attached Domain. Again there are work-arounds. Security is your biggest consideration. That is all you need to have someone use you server as a spam server. That is guaranteed to get you in trouble.
