Hello fello pchf members
Need some help here lads and lasses..
I have a dell e6410 with a samsung ssd 1tb hard drive. All is working perfectly at the moment.

The machine has 7 partitions I created them using ease us.

However I would like to back up the drive completely so I have a fully usable drive should anything go sour with my ssd

So I have a 1tb internal hhd here I would like to use hoping I can although it's not a sdd?

I have a cable to connect it to the machine via USB.

I have ease us partition master 11.0 installed and have as previously mentioned in the past I used it to make my partion's.
All well thus far.

Last weekend I made a full backup of my ssd (cloned it) using said hdd and said software

All reported as went well. Took approx 9 hours to complete.

Disk boot up fine to the master main operating system all shortcuts appear find and operate perfectly.

However if I go to any of the other partions I get the preparing your desktop message for a while. Then a load of pop up box's reporting this and that dll missing. Eventually a msg saying I can use a virtual desktop.

Then I will see my softwares on my desktop I would like to access but there icons are incomplete and the shortcuts fail to work....

My question is... why is it falling to clone 1 on 1 and is this because I'm going from ssd to hdd?

And of course how can I fix this???
If need be I will buy another ssd. But I would prefer not to as we all know how expensive they are!

But I do need this ssd backed up cloned fully working in event of a disaster

I look forward to hearing advice form the expert window guys
Thank you all Norman1967

Hi Norman and welcome to PCHF :)

It sounds like it didn't fully clone correctly. Let's get some more information about your machine before we move forward :)

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP Configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Please post the log in your next reply :)

Hello jmarket

thank you for your reply, Attached is the log you requested.

In addition i was looking this morning on ebay at a hard drive cloning tool i found this item 132049078743

I am considering buying this and giving it a go, however it only looks like one section has the correct sata 2,5 connection at the front. am i correct in thinking this?

Star tech was perfect sorted my clon in issues right out.

Never had a reply from jmarket so don't know what was found on the log that he/she requested.
