Solved HDMI Display has glitches

Status
Not open for further replies.
I have a Asus u36jc-b2b laptop. It came with windows 7 and I upgraded to Windows 10. I have 2 issues here
(1) When i attach a LCD TV to the HDMI port and press appropriate key it does not always send the display to the TV and vice versa. The diagram comes on the screen and says it is transferring it but does not always work. Sometimes i get nothing and other times a screen flicker and other times it works.
Specs for laptop are Windows 10 Pro 64, Intel i5, Nvidia Geforce 310ml/Intel HD Graphics. 8 GB Ram. I have tried updating graphics driver, removing nvidia driver all together, but nothing seems to work and if I hook a VGA cable to a external monitor it works fine that way.

(2) Cant get camera to work. Asus list 2 different camera and driver will not load, the drivers are for Windows 7 but wont load in compatibility mode either. one is Chicony and the other is Azurewave. I did have the camera working previously on the old hard drive with same O/P and I believe a found by searching that the camera in the laptop is actually a Kyocera but cant get it to work under that either

Please answer all questions previously asked elsewhere.

You may have a phantom third display. To solve a similar problem (hardware not Win10 ready and not properly using second video circuit), I did:

Acquire Display Changer 2
http://12noon.com/?page_id=641

Determine display number of target display. Activate primary display, then activate preferred display.

create and run bat/cmd file
..\dc2 -primary
..\dc2 -secondary
exit

This routine forces Display1 to fully power off and activate Display2 and eliminates phantom Display3 and the invalid force of 'extend to display3' (my problem).

You lost me when you abandoned your other thread. I require closure - it facilitates knowing the difference between something that worked once and something that will work again.

It is not entirely necessary to create a batch file, but it is useful.
Otherwise:
Open a cmd prompt
navigate to the directory containing the dc2.exe file

enter
dc2 -primary
(you might lose your display. If so, wait 30 seconds, it will return)

enter
dc2 -secondary
(you might lose your display. If so, wait 30 seconds, it will return)

You might get the display working as you desire after entering the second command. The batch file would eliminate guesswork and any undue alarm. If it works, I will provide more detailed text to accommodate certain error conditions related to 'wake from sleep/hibernate'

Please determine hardware ID of the camera. Report it here. There is no need to search for the driver. Please, just report the hardware ID.
http://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID

@jmarket
Please split this thread

If your hardware ID does NOT match, do not follow this procedure.

Assuming you have one of the following hardware IDs
VID_04f2&PID_b028
VID_04f2&PID_b066
VID_04f2&PID_b036
VID_04f2&PID_b10C
VID_04f2&PID_b10E
VID_04f2&PID_b10F
VID_04f2&PID_b189
VID_04f2&PID_b1B9
VID_04f2&PID_b1BE
VID_04f2&PID_b1E5
VID_04f2&PID_b22b

use the Sonix Camera Driver 6.0.1223.1 (28/03/2014) from this page:
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/content/QuicksearchResult.asp?q=WEBCAM&btnG.x=10&btnG.y=14

Capture.PNG

(you may experience a focus stealing pop-up from Fujitsu. Make the appropriate choice. I selected oh hell no).

This camera is actually manufactured for NT5 and XP. A manufacturer designed registry hack allowed it function in Windows 7. You may experience an inverted image.

If you do, modify this registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}\0000\Settings

there is a 32bit DWORD entry FLIP. change the value from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0.

Posted for GP - Install a driver without using the installer (setup says "Not correct OS")

Device manager
Click your PC name (first item in list)
Menu Action, Add Legacy hardware
Next
Install hardware I select manually
Imaging devices
Have disk
Browse to driver folder
next, next, OK, whatever (I can't remember all the steps, but you should be OK from here).

This is a better description. Only the device is different.

Thanks for all your help. I did manage to get the external HDMI port to display to LCD TV. The only way i get it to work is using the Windows display settings and setting it as 1 display and when I plug the HDMI cable in it automatically goes to external display and when I unplug it, vise versa. The only glitch is the lower taskbar is only about half visible but it displays at a very nice resolution. I am going to try what you suggested for the camera. I will let you know how I make out with this and again, thanks for your help.
I did talk to Nvidia and I was told that Microsoft is supposed to release a large amount of updates at the end of this month or early next month and there possibly could be a updated driver.

I am going to try to get the camera going later today when I have more time but I am confused about which camera to choose. When I go to add legacy hardware, then i pick imaging devices and then my choices are Kyocera. Microsoft, UTAX/TA, Xerox

Okay I am definitely missing something here. There is no imaging device listed under Device Manager unless I add legacy hardware, then choose install manually, then I choose imaging devices and then I get 4 to choose from. Kyocera, Microsoft, UTAX/TA, Xerox. So I pick Kyocera and I either have to pick a driver there or select have disk. So I pick a driver( CD 1028_DC 2028 WIA Driver USB )and then when i go in to the properties and then details and then I pick hardware ids . Here it is usb\vid_0482&pid_03e2&mi_01

I am not certain if you are reporting a problem. Did you install the driver? Does the camera work?

It is possible that there is no working Win10 driver for this chipset/camera. That camera is so old it might use pen and ink to record images.

Choose 'Have Disk'

The driver for vid_0482&pid_03e2 is (not listed as Win10 compatible) here:
http://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=1804670

The host site throws up a wall of nonsense to download the driver. My PC and browser are heavily fortified against pop-ups and other crap, so I do not know what you will experience while attempting to grab the file. I have downloaded a copy and will post to google drive if you have insurmountable difficulties getting the driver on your own.

I was away for a while but am now trying to use a driver for a FJ camera that i read online worked for someone else. The driver will not install because it does not see a FJ camera so I guess a need to make a batch file which I did but I am lost after that. What do I copy to the batch file and how do I run the batch file. I usually pick things up pretty quick but apparently this is not one of them.
