Hello all,
Loving this site for my PC issues.
Searched on this, but didn't find a direct answer to my issue. A lot of original posters don't follow up on their posts :cautious:.

Here's the issue:
I have a WD Caviar Blue 500GB HDD that shows up in the BIOS and device manager on any of my four PC's, but it will not show up in any Disk Manager or in Diskpart.

My Four PC's:
Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV(R2.0) Intel Pentium G630 (Windows 10 Pro)
HP 6005 Pro SFF AMD Phenom X4 B95 (Windows 10 Pro)
ASRock 970M Pro3 AMD FX-6300 (Windows 10 Pro)
Mac Book Pro 2nd gen Intel Core i7 (Windows 8.1 Pro Boot camp.) Only used the caddy on this one.

My Goal:
Have a working drive - I don't care about the data on the drive.

What I have tried:
Uninstalling in device manager.
Searching for updated drivers.
Using a USB 3.0 compatible caddy that has it's own power supply to attach to the computer. (Exact same results) The PC's pick up the caddy, and the drive shows up in Device manager, but not in Disk Manager or Diskpart

Any suggestions?

Have you tried going to control panel/administrative tools/computer management/disk management and see if it shows there? If it does select it initialize it if its not already and format it

the USB caddy would have been a suggestion, but I see you have tried that.

if Gus' suggestion doesn't pan out, next idea I have would be a 3rd party partitioning tool EaseUS Partition Master and see if you can iniitialise or format the drive using that software.

but with what you have tried so far, if 4 different PC's can't see the drive internally or via the caddy, than that does not bode well.

being 500GB, I'm guessing it's a few year old. and since you don't care about the data - why all the hard work? - ditch it and get another. they are cheap as. and yes, we live in a disposal world and ideally what you are chasing is time worthy but there comes a time to draw a line in the sand. and after 4 pc's I think you are on that line.

Tried this just now. Doesn't show up.
Also just tried EaseUS. Doesn't show up.

The reason for wanting to save the drive is because it worked when I pulled it out of the PC with the Pentium processor. I want to pull the SSD out of it and put the HDD back in. I understand it's cheap and I've got a few laptop drives I could use, just wanted to make sure I explore every avenue before it goes to E-Waste.

Isn't there some way to reset it with the pins in the front? Kind of like resetting the CMOS on a MOBO?

Got it figured out. I forgot that I had attempted to use the drive in a RAID 0 setup, and it was configured as a "storage spaces" drive. Went into storage spaces and deleted it. The computer formatted it and it is now working properly.

Gee, don't I feel stupid... At least I saved the drive, lol.

Thanks for the input guys.
