Solved Hard Drive Clicking

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hello everyone!
So have a seagate 4TB barracuda (fairly new), which was clicking, and actually disappeared from being able to see it in file explorer.
I removed it and installed in an external enclosure and its working fine no problems for several days.

So question is: Why is it giving trouble in the desktop (have 4 other drives hooked up was 5) ?

AMD 3900X
asus tuf gaming x570-plus
power supply 750 corsair

Hello Dogbyte,

Any clicking from a HDD is not a good sign and unlike the Seagate HDDs of years back the more recent ones have a terrible failure rate, would suggest we take a look at the health of the drive.

Download and run CrystalDisk info standard edition from here

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click Attach file to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Sorry but you have run the wrong program, we need a screenshot of CrystalDiskInfo not the benchmark program, if you used the link that I provided I`m not sure how you managed that tbh :unsure:
