Solved Hard Drive Clicking

Hello Dogbyte,

Any clicking from a HDD is not a good sign and unlike the Seagate HDDs of years back the more recent ones have a terrible failure rate, would suggest we take a look at the health of the drive.

Download and run CrystalDisk info standard edition from here

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click Attach file to add the screenshot.

Sorry but you have run the wrong program, we need a screenshot of CrystalDiskInfo not the benchmark program, if you used the link that I provided I`m not sure how you managed that tbh

No worries and pleased to say that the drive looks to be ok, I would still keep on top of your back ups though.

A bad cable would not cause a drive to click as the click is commonly the actuator

if it's fairly new, therefore maybe under warranty, why not return it.
yes - you should be doing backups anyway, but if you have no faith in the integrity of your hard drive, why keep it???
