Not open for further replies.
Hi.

My sons gaming pc has recently been upgraded. we have the following hardware

Nvidia Geoforce GTX 1660 Super GPU
AMD Ryen 5 2600
Samsung 2tb ssd
Gigabyte A320M S2H Motherboard.
16GB Corsair vengance ddr4 ram (2x 8gb sticks)
2x Benq HD monitors.

We installed the new ssd, graphics card and ram recently and ever since games keep crashing either midway in a game or when its loading up. His favourite games are Rust and Modern Warfare and GTA 5.

All games played great until the upgrade.

Im not very experienced with PC,s. But what ive done to try and rectify the problem is:

Clean Windows install.
Removed all old drivers with DDU.
Stopped windows installing driver in tweaker.
Installed drivers from Nvidia and AMD.
Mem tested the ram.
Did a Benchmark test and it did really well.
Im not sure what else to try.

After all this we have just tried loading modern warfare and it crashed whilst loading giving "DEV ERROR 5624"

Rust just stops and close to desktop.

Dont usually have aBSOD.

Anyone have any ideas what I could try. Is something in the pc causing this??

Thanks for reading.

Hello Gowing238,

Couple of questions if I may;

Was the Corsair VS650 used in the previous build.

Do you have a link to the same spec of RAM as you are presently using, 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs are ok but the earlier versions are notoriously picky about the RAM that they will work with.

Do you still have any of the previous parts available, if yes can you tell us what.

Fyi, the Corsair VS650 is not an appropriate power supply for this build, Corsair make good PSUs but what they make should be used with the appropriate system, the VS which = value series and the CX range of PSUs are only meant to be used in entry level desktops that have integrated graphics or at a push GPUs that have a very low power requirement, 300W for example, the PSUs are cheaper as they are not built with high end capacitors and wire etc and as a consequence they are weak and get very hot inside which can result in them shutting down.

This is the new ram stick. Its identical to the 2nd ram stick that was already in the pc.

The PSU is also a new addition as the gpu card had a 8 pin pcie connector that the old power supply unit didnt have. What supply unit would you reccomend??

Have gotten rid of the old psu but still have the previous gpu.

Can you tell us the previous GPU details, we need to see if the PSU is capable of powering it.

You are going to have to do some swapping and changing to troubleshoot this I`m afraid, I will try and provide all of the steps tonight as I may not be around until later on tomorrow or possibly not at all.

The previous gpu was nvidia 1080 something. Thats all i know sorry. It didnt need an extra power cable though.

Forgot to mention the power supply is also a new addition as the old supply didnt have an 8pin pcie connector that the new graphicd card needed.

All high end GPUs require at least the one supplemental power dongle so it will not have been a GTX 1080 as they require an 8 pin PCI-E dongle, could the card have been a GTX 1050 which is one of the cards with a low power requirement, 300W and no power dongle to be exact.

Can I ask that you do not quote replies, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

Yes sorry my mistake it was a 1050.
Sorry about quoting!! Pressed the wrong reply!!

I didnt mention. These parts were all a xmas present. All added gradually. I added the extra ram on xmas day and everything was fine.

Week later i installed the ssd and this is when our issues began. We bought the new graphics card because of these new issues with the games crashing thinking the gtaphics card was failing.
And then obviously had to upgrade the psu as the old one didnt have an 8pin connector for the graphics card.. its been a long few weeks!!!

Right quick update. Tried running the pc using one ram stick at a time. 1st one in the pc, crashes same as usual, back to windows.

Out original 8gb ram stick in and 3 hrs in and alls running fine....

Seems like the identical new stick is causing the issue.

What is a better ram stick to get instead of the vengeance?? As obviously only running 1 8gb stick now. Whats best rsm to use with AMD RYZON 5 2600??

Cheers everyone whos helped!!

Did you try the new RAM in both slots on the MB?

In case you are not aware, RAM is best purchased in matching pairs because as you have found even getting a like for like second stick later on can cause issues such as what you are getting now.

Yes tried the new ram in both slots. It crashed every type of configuration.

Have now purchased a new pair of 8gb ram sticks to replace the vengeance ones.

Gskill trident Z. Hopefully this will be the resoloution to all our problems!!

Just to update. The new gskill ram arrived and has been installed. The pc has run loke a train ever since. No issues whatsoever. No crashing and all games running like a dream.

Looks like all the issues werw caused by the corsair vengance ram we had installed.

Thanks for everyones help sorting this issue.

Glad to hear that all is now well with the computer and thank you for letting us know that you no longer require assistance with this (y)

You are welcome btw :)

NB: Good that you post the outcome as it will hopefully save others time that may read the thread looking for help with the same issue.
