Any one here know how to update a (Sprint) Galaxy Tab SPH-P-100 ?
I would like to update it to Android 4...This is what i found it could be updated to.

Spec's.......
Android 2.3.4
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7
Gingerbread .EF17
Baseband version Sjp100.08 S.EF17

Hiya vger,

The only way I'm currently aware of is to install CM10, which is based off of Android 4.1.2, but to do that you first have to have the device rooted and have a custom recovery installed, such as ClockworkMod Recovery.

Ok would i have to use this
CyanogenMod 7.1-2.x

Since i have 2.3.4 version of android or use the
CyanogenMod 9.0.x or 10. x since i would be trying to put android 4 on this tab?

Maybe this will help Vger. Before you do anything I would suggest you backup all of your data on the tablet. I suspect others are fearful of doing what you need is because rooting can have unwanted consequences if not done correctly. I have bricked more than one tablet. Lucky for me, I was able to recover from it. I am not afraid to experiment with my own tablets but I would feel terrible if I damaged someone else's. The provided link should provide good instructions on the process. I have tested the links on the page and they all seem to work. One other thing to consider is if you use the tablet with your cell phone service then you may lose that functionality.

Really nothing on it except Opera browser...the thing can't do much with it's outdated OS.. It has been wiped once anyway by my daughter which was hers to start with.. I did read, this tab could be brought back from a bricking by installing the old version of android so you could start over again.. If it was bricked and it is not fixable i didn't pay that much for it anyway,just wanted something to use while my wife was bogarting the main pc and not having to buy a laptop... So the offer still stands..

If you are using the tablet wifi only then you ease one of my worries. I agree that it is not very useful if you can't do what you want. Wal Mart carries a tablet called NextBook that has the Android version 5 for about $80. I have bought 4 of them over the past year. One for myself and 3 as gifts. I added a 64 Gb micro SD card to it for the extra storage. If you don't want to spend the extra money at this time then I will be more than glad to give it a go to help a friend. If you don't still have my address shoot me a PM. I will do my best. :)

Ok thanks for that info on those Nextbooks,but i really didn't want to buy any more devices,besides i have this thing about repurposing old devices.

I am a big believer in repurposing older devices. Turning old PCs into NAS boxes and home servers. Using the older tablets as ebook readers. You have to realize that at some point there is a point of diminishing returns so at that point the device has outlived its usefulness. I just sent 170 pounds of old devices to the recyclers because they were beyond use. Just couldn't see hanging on to those old MFM Hard drives and 36.6K modems. :LOL:

True that...got some myself,i have one that has win3.0 on it and still works..
