I just went and got the adapter and it doesn't detect the other monitor if it's plugged in via USB. I'll get the pic soonCan you get me a picture of the back of your motherboard so I can see what you have to work with?
A clear well-lit photo of the back of the case will help me figure out how we can test without the GPU.

Solved Freezes after first bootup of day, and after exiting sleep mode. Also freezes randomly

I may have just been able to find the fix for the problem. Apparently this is a common enough issue with my specific PC that they have recently released a patch for it. The NVIDA USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller driver apparently causes this issue and disabling it fixes it. Here's the link to the fix.
