Hi,

I purchased a laptop towards the end of last year, I've had it maybe ~7 months and I've encountered a major issue today. Out of the blue it has begun to stutter doing routine tasks (switching tabs, working in word, browsing chrome etc) and my fps in games has dropped dramatically (for reference it has a 1650ti and I play LoL). I usually manage 130-144 fps in game at any given point, but now simply loading into the game it drops from its usual 140 fps right down to 20-30fps, and then will fluctuates back forth between the top end and the bottom end. It's really odd as it has just happened, for no apparent reason, mid day, I literally played one game earlier in the day and went back to play 3 hours later and it started to act up. I've already reset the pc (although I didn't remove my files) and I have no idea what to do. What's the likely hood that its not software but a hardware issue?

Thanks in advance to anyone who stops help.

Edit: Yes, drivers are up to date.

Hello

Have you checked those temps ? We will need the complete laptop spec's..
Hi, they were:
AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
16gb ram
windows 10
1650ti
(don't exactly know what else to include)

No I haven't, but how exactly should I check? Do I measure before in game and after, or just in general?

Laptop brand and model?

If you do not know how to check your temps in the bio's, you can download and check those temps..

HP Omen 2015/6(?) and it's currently reading ~26° on the CPU.

Check your background programs running and peripheral connections.. This will cause the FPS rate to go down.. Giving the laptop is 6 ot 7 years old may have something to do with your issue as well.
