Hello!

About a year ago, a thunderstorm was raging outside, and in the morning my computer wouldn't turn on. Recently, i have had the problem diagnosed and the motherboard is the only dead part. (the processor was tested and it workes)

My dead motherboard:
MSI H67MA-E35

other parts:

CPU:
Intel Core i5-2500
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...5-2500-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-70-ghz.html

GPU:
MSI radeon r9 390 gaming 8gb
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ymqbt6/msi-video-card-r9390gaming8g

RAM:
8GB kit(2x4) Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600, cl9

Power sup:
Corsair Builder series CX500
500W

The problem I am having is, that I can't find a motherboard that has the LGA1155 cpu socket and DDR3 memory type.
Is this configuration simply so old that no seller is selling such a motherboard anymore and i am forced to upgrade?
Also if i do upgrade should i go for DDR4 ram or keep the old one?

If i do upgrade, i am ready to spend around 300€ ~~ $340 (for the motherboard, cpu and ram)
Do u have any recommendations?

What do u think of the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 processor perhaps?

Thank you in advance!

Hi jostob, Welcome to PCHF! :)

The Intel Core i5 2500 is a pretty old CPU and will be an issue if you intend on playing games with that CPU.

I would recommend getting a Ryzen motherboard and CPU and buying new DDR4 RAM. You can sell the old DDR3 RAM and the old Intel Core i5 2500 CPU and use the money from that to help you upgrade to newer components.

What country are you located in?

the computer stores in Brisbane I get parts through no longer sell S1155 mobo's, but as stated by vger, you can still get them online.
personally I'd be taking the opportunity to upgrade to current gen hardware.
and yes, that will force you to get DDR4 RAM and something a lot better than your 2nd gen Core i5.
your 300 euros is about $AUD500 which will easily get you those new parts.

for example;
mobo - Gigabyte B360M HD3 LGA 1151 mATX - $120
RAM - Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) 2400MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL15 HyperX FURY Black Series - $70
CPU - Intel Core i5 9400F 6 Core LGA1151 2.9GHz - $230

so your budget is right on the money.
