Find bad ip

I am needing help finding out what device is putting out a bad IP address and shutting down my entire network.

is there any easy way to find out what device is putting out a private IP address starting with 168. on my network? What ever device it is, is causing my entire building to go down and router restarts itself. It is sending out 168. as if it’s the router instead of my devices picking up my actual router IP address.

How do you know that it is a bad IP address?

what do you mean by shutting down the entire network?

Run the IP config on each device and see what it populates.

Open an Admin Command Prompt and type the following command

ipconfig

should be under IPv4 Address............ :

the common default starts with 192.168.nnn.nnn or does yours start with 168.nnn.nnn.nnn
do you know its full IP address?
if you do, try the ping -a command as that will try to resolve the IP address to a name if it's available.

What I mean a IP address that is not tied to the router. The team in my office can be using the computer and internet just find and all of a sudden the internet goes down and ALL devices on the network as a 169. IP address which sounds like it’s coming from a computer running windows. Once the router goes through its process of restarting everything goes back to normal until what ever device that is sending out a 169. IP address hijacks all the computers again.

My network gets hijacked with a 169. that is supposedly a IP address windows give out for a auto private ip. The only problem is instead when this computer gets assigned a 169 IP address all other computers tries to connect using a 169 instead of using the router default ip. When the router reboots from the ip conflict all the device goes back online using the routers ipv4 address until what ever device on the network takes over the IP address
