Hope someone can help me since a couple of days i cant install a programm on my computer anymore and the support staff i am in contact with (of the programm) asked me to send them a log from my event viewer, but my event viewer doesnt seem to work because there is only showing a local file on the right side but nothing else.

Welcome to PCHF General_Demon,

What program is it that you are having trouble with installing.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Only thing that I am seeing that could be causing a problem is Norton, why do you have this installed when you don`t need it, Windows defender and Firewall are more than enough and far less problematic.

I have Norton installed because i thought i had deactivated windows defender. But even with disabled Norton my event viewer doesnt show anything besides the local tap i already tested this.

Couple of questions if I may;

Are you wanting help with installing NordVPN or the eventviewer.

What if anything else have you tried, no point in us suggesting something only for to you to say that you have already tried it.

I want help with the eventviewer since it is only showing me the local tap but nothing more than that.
for fixing my problem with NordVPN i wait what their support is going to tell me but since i cant use the evnetviewer and cant find anything on google that can help me fix it (eventviewer). So i dont really know what to do with the eventviewer.

Thanks for clarifying (y)

Before doing the following, would you be able to take an expanded screenshot of eventviewer and upload it for us, let us know if you are not sure how and we will post the steps.

To the task at hand;

Windows is shown as being version 1909 but it is well out of date so first thing that I would suggest that you do is as below, Windows may be missing one or more updates need to be able to provide this service and these steps should sort this if the case.

Create a new system restore point.

Check for and install all Windows updates, once done, restart the computer and check to see if eventviewer is working as it should, if not, go to next step;

Download then run the Windows All in One Repair tool from here, disregard the malware guidance but follow the other steps to the letter and in particular ensuring that you first create a new restore point and perform a proper Windows clean boot before running the repair, details for the clean boot here.

Here is the screenshot of event viewer you requested.
Hope that you can work with it.

Thanks for the updates, not getting any notifications for some reason hence the reason for the delay.

Can you post an updated Speccy url for us so we can see what updates were installed.

Something odd going on with Windows, your latest Speccy report is not showing any Windows updates as having been installed whereas your first Speccy report showed that three updates had been installed.

Regarding eventviewer, what you describe was a known bug that was fixed by a Microsoft update some time last year but it looks like you are missing it.

Can I ask who installed Windows on this computer and from where was the media obtained, purchased on a Microsoft Windows DVD or a digital download etc.

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP Configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.
