U.K, North West.
I have problems, with my ethernet controller driver. motherboard is a Gigabyte 990fx Gaming.

I've been looking for solutions via my phone for the past 3 hours. using my phone as a means to download and transport drivers to my PC. yet, there is something mystical happening that I can't getmy head around.

I've downloaded the killer E2200 suite to download the ethernet controller (as thats what it is) however when I go to install the suite, it says that I have no killer hardware installed, then terminates the programme. So I wasn't going to have this, I went to update my driver software, went on browse, and found the correct file which had my driver in, click update, and BAM windows could not find the software needed.

I tried looking for direct links for the driver only, but nothing worked. Then I looked at the properties under device manager and (after a little search) it stated that it was an intel driver. so I went and had a mosey and couldn't find any solution down that road.

I've looked at other gigabyte 990FX drivers in hopes that would work, yet nothing did.

Then I downloaded a driver detector and downloader, it said it needed updating, I clicked install and it tried to download an intel ethernet driver. then when it was running the suite, it popped up saying "no intel hardware found".

I've even tethered my GF's phone to my PC to use internet so I can search online for driver software, and it couldn't find the one I needed.

I'm at my witts end with this build, particulalry this problem, when I have th einternet back online I can get everything else working, but this has literally gave me a headache XD I will be looking for more.

EDIT- also in bios onboard LAN is enabled

Roll back the driver? I'm confused.

Like I said a system restore would put me back on windows 10, and it was so corrupt it wouldn't load. thats why I did a clean install of windows 7 (as I have a new GPU, PSU, and mobo)

Download Snappy driver installer.

2016-05-01_18h54_18.thumb.png.1ee2c74e2dcba355bfb62aae7246e9ce.png

Or this tool will tell you exactly what drivers are needed.

  • Download Unknown Device Identifier v9.00
  • Run it.
  • Allow it to complete.
  • Hit File >>Save
  • The default name will be DeviceList
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Open DeviceList.txt copy contents.
  • Paste it here.

Whenever I do a clean install of a machine and am being paid to do it, I just use Snappy Driver Installer. Sit back and let it do the work, since you are using the internet tethered from that phone, this would be the easiest option. I have not ran into a driver this program could not find, even when supposed drivers did not support an earlier version of windows when I have downgraded. I hope you find this program to useful for you. :)

Since you are running windows seven since the ethernet controlled has not been working since the reinstall then this may not work.
Right Click on Computer and Select Merger
On the Left side look for and Select Device Manager
Now on the Right look for Ethernet Controller and double click on that.
On the bottom there should be a Roll Back Button.
If it is grayed out then there is no driver for it to roll back to.

No where on this thread is that stated. Did the mother board come with a disk? Have you installed the Chipset Driver?

Scanner is downloading updates, though none of which seem to be the LAN. It says next to the ethernet controller "device requires driver but wasn't found in driver pacs"

If it is grayed out then there is no driver for it to roll back to.

it's greyed out :(

No where on this thread is that stated. Did the mother board come with a disk? Have you installed the Chipset Driver?

My apologies, I had to re-write my post after the phone died and took away my internet. I must have put it in the previouse post. again my apologies.

Have you installed the Chip Set Driver?
Have had some systems have fits if that is not installed.

Also go back into device manager and do you see any Yellow (!) or Red (X)?

I'm currently performing driver updates with the scanner programme Malnutrition linked. I do believe the chipset is one of the items being installed.

on the devicemanager, there are three yellow exclamation marks, next to - Ethernet controller, and 2 x USB controllers. other then that apparently everything is up to date (yeah right)

little update, the scanner programme finished all updates, all three items which had yellow exclaation marks have not changed. still have the ethernet controller problem :/
Have you rebooted the system some things do not take affect until the system is rebooted.

Thats somthing I'm not sure of, I bought this motherboard dirt cheap, as such it doesn't have the original box, or the driver CD, hence my troubles. Will it say this somewhere on the mobo?
Yes should be near the model of the Motherboard.
