Dreaded 0xc00007b on built gaming pc

Earlier today i was in discord playing pubg with a friend, left to grab some groceries and came back to my pc not being able to start up, I'm getting a "0xc00007b" stop code on boot up. I've looked into this and so far I know it's not a hardware issue, most of the fixes online require being able to actually get to desktop which in my case isn't possible. I couldn't come up with any way of fixing this so I though I'd just reset the pc. About 32% into the reset process I get an error saying that it failed to reset and it's undoing changes. Is there any way I can fix this? I don't mind completely resetting the pc (can't even manage that). I've done a "chkdsk" and it didn't pick up on anything. It's doing my head in since I heavily rely on my pc for uni work

Pc specs are
i7-6700k
Evga gtx 1070sc
8gb ram
120gb ssd and 2 Tb hdd

[Edit] would resetting cmos fix the issue?

Hello Little Gasoline,

Can I ask how you were able to get to the reset option, if it was from the Recovery Environment Troubleshooting options, was or is there an option to use a system restore point

NB: I note that you were able to run chkdsk, this suggests that you were able to get to command prompt, if yes, repeat the procedure to get to command prompt but this time type
sfc /scannow note the space between the c and the / and then and then press Enter

An in-place upgrade using Windows 10 media is another option, this would keep your personal data but you would need to reinstall your Windows 10 updates, more on this if and when required.

So after my pc fails to diagnose the issue, I get sent to a screen that asks if I want to restart or troubleshoot, once in troubleshoot I can do things like access cmd or reset the pc, a system restore point option is available but I never set one due to my pc being only about 8months old. I'll try the cmd command and will report back on the results

Did you try selecting the system restore point option, creating a system restore point should be done before making any changes to your computer even if it is on the first day of purchase, depending on who installed Windows on the computer creating automatic restore points could and should have been set up from day one, no ones fault if they were not by the way.

I'll re check, but I'm confident the guy who installed Windows didn't do this

Did you try selecting the system restore point option,
Can you also answer the above for us.

I did a scan, "Windows resource protection could not preform the requested operation"
Do you mean SFC.

Do you have Windows 10 media or access to a computer with internet connection, a disk burner, blank DVD or a USB thumb drive larger than 5GB.
