Disk Management (Initializing Disk) "This Device Is Not Ready"

I'm using an HDD(500GB) with a USB to Hard Drive Adapter
I believe the problem is that the adapter is 2.5" and the disk might be 3.5" I'm not sure.
The HDD in your attachment is a 3.5" Seagate ST3500418AS Barracuda and so you are correct, it is not compatible with the 2.5" USB device that you have.
