Diagnosing very slow downloads/other issues

My PCs have long been haunted with unusual issues. My current one, a gaming system, now has new issues.

Before, it was working 'normally'. Win 10 64, i7-4790K, RX 480, 500GB Samsung SSD boot, new (< 1 month old) gaming HD replacing one that went bad, Comcast cable.

The symptoms, I haven't quite figured out, but here are some things that aren't working:

- World of Tanks: plays fine; usually takes about a minute to exit a match instead of 5 seconds
- Steam downloads are about 100x slower. a 36GB download is taking a week; but internet speed tests says 142 MB.
- I get generic or password errors trying to run other game clients (gog, epic) or loggin In to Elder Scrolls Online.

What's ok:

- Steam games already installed, played online, are working ok
- I did a test downloading a 3GB game from Humble Bundle game trove; it took about 5 minutes

This did not start happening when I installed the new HD early this month, but a few days later.

That 'crystalsomething' utility did a report people say shows no HD errors.

Not a gamer myself so not much help when it comes to FPS but over the years through helping people I have found that when it comes to online gaming there are two things that hinder gaming, a poor internet connection and browser security plug ins, sort them and you are usually good to go.

This may be something that you need to take up with your ISP but we can take a look for you first to see if we can see anything;

If the computer is a desktop can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

No real knowledge on gaming needed. This is about download speed/connection issues in some apps, not normal gaming issues.

PS is Corsair HX750i, bought less than a year ago.

I ran speccy, but after like an hour - it took maybe 20 minutes to fill the info - the wheel is still spinning and 'publish snapshot' is grayed out.

Here's a cut and paste.

Can`t do anything without the Speccy url I`m afraid, can you try again for us later.

To do meanwhile;

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

Flush DNS
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us.

NB. Gaming rig, Steam, World of tanks and playing the Elder Scrolls Online.suggests that another helper with online gaming knowledge may be best placed to help you tbh.
