Hi, I am trying to start my laptop but it just won’t boot. I have tried pressing f2 in order to review the bios settings with some guidance but nothing we have tried makes any difference. I just get the black dell screen up and no noise to suggest the lap top is trying to start up. Any help would be much appreciated.
thank you

The spinning dots suggest that there is a problem with Windows loading, have you left the computer like this to see if anything changes, this sort of behaviour can be caused by an update being interrupted while it is installing.

See if you have the Dell onboard diagnostic tools available;

Restart your Dell PC.
When the Dell logo appears, press the F12 key to enter One-time Boot Menu.
Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter key on the keyboard.
Follow the on-screen prompts and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
If the test fails, write down the error code and validation code and post it here.

Thank you, this is in progress

Have you tried restarting the notebook since the tests finished.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

No worries, many folk do it but it is a pain in the proverbial as we have to read every post and quote to make sure nothing gets overlooked.

The tests passing looks good for the hardware but bad for Windows I`m afraid :(

See if you are able to force the computer to start in the Windows Recovery Environment (RE) by starting up and shutting down the computer two or three times using the case power button, please note that you need to shut down the computer after the MBs splash screen and just before Windows attempts to load, if successful you should then continue to the Troubleshooting options and then hopefully be able to use a system restore point or Safe Mode etc.

Try the following steps again, we are trying to get the options that can be seen at the link here
