Cpu Red Light

Hey There!

The Cpu light on the motherboard goes red when i play warzone, the game runs smoothly but after some time with the red light i get frame drops and freezes, i am also not able to use discord while im playing. i do not get the red light on other games(as far as im concerned). i have tried changing the thermal paste but it still happens. on other not so demanding games like fortnite i have to lock the fps to 60 to not get frames drops, but i still get them? and id say that with my hardware this is not supposed to happen?

My hardware:
i5 9600K
RTX 2060 Super
16 GB Ram

What can the problem be?

Hello EliasM,

Overheating and a weak power supply are two possible causes.

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Thanks, Speccy mainly all good with just the one thing that could be responsible, address this for us and see how things go, any further problems we will need to properly check your temps and voltages.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: Høy ytelse

I suggest that you change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, High Performance is a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues and the setting should only be used for gaming type notebooks that have a discrete GPU that needs the extra power.

Partition 2
Partition ID: Disk #0, Partition #2
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: 42DDAACA
Size: 237 GB
Used Space: 196 GB (82%)
Free Space: 40 GB (18%) Keep this above 15% or you risk Windows becoming corrupt and/or not being able to update.

You are welcome btw :)

hello again, now when i play i only get the red light when i am in the games? so not in the menu just in the game? but on speccy its seems as if my cpu is overheating? its in the mid 90s? can i do anything to lower the temperature without spending money or do i have to get a new fan or something like that?

Hello EliasM,

Lets take a look at the temps and voltages;

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.

So that we have a comparison to Speedfan, download, run and grab a screenshot of HWMonitor (free).

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.
