So recently my roommate got himself a new prebuilt in, from day one which was 3 days ago its been pretty much unplayable.

Specs are,
i7 11700f with stock cooler
16gb ddr4
asrock b650m-c mobo
gtx 1650 msi ventus oc
600 watt psu
1tb hdd
500 tb m.2
windows 10

So at first, Any game he played would cause his pc to restart after about 10 or 15 minutes of gameplay, Sometimes as fast as 4
Looked into some things did a quick clean install of windows and it remained happening. Updated all drivers, etc. Windows event log shows some 10016 errors which i doubt have anything to do with it from what ive read, as well as some user power mode errors.

Fast forward a few hours of searching, finds some stuff that says maybe try borderless window, which worked for a lot longer but still crashed for him after about 3 hours. This was last night, He found an article somewhere and did something the article said and went from not being able to play fullscreen to being able to in some games, but not all, At least for the 3-4 hours he tried, but say planetside 2, will crash after a few minutes still. .when i say crash this is what happens, the game will freeze, Pc will freeze, cant ctrl alt del, or alt tab, stay frozen for 5-15 secs and reboot itself, a handful of times its been stuck at frozen and required a force restart.

I have swapped out gpu, psu, and ram and it still did this, He can play some games but i just wanna figure this out, it makes me feel bad he just got this thing and its giving him issues. Any input appreciated.

Hello

Spec's on the main psu and the one you swap out with.. The games you are playing, is the software up to date? Also the name and model on the pc..
Came with a 600 swapped with a 750 same thing both times. Games like smitw/ark/planetside 2. Ive updated everything i can think of from drivers to software

Can you Download and run and then post. https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

The last part of each URL is randomized, so only people you provide with the URL will be able to find your profile.

Could you also include the power supply specs E.g Cooler Master 850W Gold V2 NOT E.g 850w

Can you go here and download speed fan and install Click On Me .
Run speed fan then click on the Exotics tab > show the magic. post a screen capture. To do a screen capture in Windows 10 press the windows key and the print screen button together. It will put the image in Pictures>Screenshots

Nothing stands out in speccy or heat.
Have you overclocked the ram in bios?
If yes set bios back to defaults and change Power plan in control panel from High performance to balanced.
Test
When you can
post make and model of power supply please

PSU installed that came with system is a gamdias 600b 600 watt, But i swapped it with my corsair cx750m 750watt and it still did the same thing, Could the cpu just be bad, i dont think its a heat issue and im not dumb when it comes to this stuff, been to school and have 10- years invested in pcs but this one has me stumped.

to clarify - it only happens in games?
normal usage - Word, emails, web browser etc are fine?

assuming this was a budget buy, what with the Kingston SSD, ASROCK mobo, gamdias PSU, RAM(what is make/model as Speccy couldn't determine) - so I wonder if something is incompatible, eg: the memory.
is it on ASROCK Quality Vendors List?

also, can you remove the GPU and try running the game on the Intel graphics?

It is my roommates PC not mine. But yes he said happens in games and in my testing only games. Ive stressed the gpu and cpu both separately and at the same time.

Fairly budget yes. About 1000, i have tested ram gpu and psu as in swapped for new so not sure but ill check the list. Ive never personally seen a pc act like this and not be one of the things ive swapped so im stumped as hell lol

If pulling the GPU helps, it might be a good idea to run DDU and ensure that the drivers installed are correct for the machine.

Run DDU and install a fresh set of drivers from here.

An important note: You MUST download the driver executeable and disconnect your computer from the internet before running DDU, otherwise Windows will automatically download drivers (which you don't want).

Furthermore, below is a laundry list of good housekeeping, it wouldn't hurt to try them as well.

1. Try running the following programs, also try to keep at least 20-25% of your disks as free space.

Run Disk Cleanup (check all the boxes) this will delete things such as your recycling bin, so make sure you don't have any files you want to keep.

Run Defragment and Optimize Drives, run this on your drives.

2. Disable any overclocking or changes to power/performance settings

Turn off XMP/any overclocking you may have done (if any)

Settings > System > Power and sleep > Additional power settings
Make sure your power plan is set to balanced, anything else could tamper with the wrong settings and cause issues.

3. Check for Operating System Corruption

Right click on the Windows logo in the bottom left and select Windows Powershell (Admin)
Run these three commands separately:

sfc /scannow

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

These will take a while to run, do not close out of Powershell while they are running, if one fails then move onto the next and then loop back around.

Note: It doesn't hurt to make a system backup before you make all these changes, save any important files of folders. While these changes shouldn't cause any issues, better to be safe than sorry.

4. Unplug unnecessary devices.
If you have a gamepad, extra monitor, external hard drive/flash drive, or anything that is not essential to using the computer plugged in, unplug it. You should be left with your monitor, mouse and keyboard.

Once you have completed all of these tasks, restart it (using the restart option in the power menu) and re-test.
