I couldn't see a desktop section ;)

these are the specs of my PC. And it's slow!

Untitled.jpg

So often going into file manager takes an age, i wonder if i have pressed the button. Pictures can take a minutes to load

i thought it might simply be full but the C drive shows 233gb free of 587

I'm half guessing more RAM would help?

Once a program has been opened it opens a lot quickere the next time

If you can see an upgrade worth taking could you specify what i need to buy?

thanks

Ok

You can upgrade the memory to this...... 2 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots – Dual Channel DDR3 1333/1066 MHz non-ECC, un-buffered memory (Max 8GB )
Which would speed things up a bit,as you have some very slow memory installed. I noticed you have a storage HDD and i take it you are not using the main HDD just for the OS. With the main HDD can you move more files to your external HDD? This would speed up things more. Also you could speed up the pc using a SSD if you wanted to using the OS only. Now go into your control panel and select Administrative tools, click that and go to system configuration... Then select this.. It
will speed up the start up.

Make sure you have only one AV running..

Yes it was upgraded from 7 to 10
Might want to think about doing a clean install of Windows 10.

You can also go through they system and uninstall any programs that you are no longer going to use.

When was the last time the dust was removed form the system?

Are the two USB drives attached and are you accessing the data from them? Depending on the detail and size of the picture it could take up to a minute to load.if one one of the USB drives

When was the last time you scanned the HDD for errors and or defragged it?

As above by Vger running 64bit Windows 10 with 4GB ram is never going to result in a speeding ticket. Check also to ensure Windows 10 drivers are available from the manufacturers website. Difficult to say whether adding upgrade components to this machine or investing in a newer one would be the way to go.

Is the maximum RAM i can have 8gb?

What exactly would i enter into ebay to get the right part?

And would i need two of them?

The external drive is a system backup and is always full

Yes you can get up to 8 gigs of ram. Your spec's for the ram are.. 2 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots – Dual Channel DDR3 1333/1066 MHz non-ECC, un-buffered memory (Max 8GB) ... Personally i would get 2 sticks, they seem to run faster that way. On the external drive, you could clean out the junk if any or get a bigger size drive.
