hi, i have just changed hdd from my father in laws pc. to his new pc where his windows 10 still works ok in new pc with old hdd but in device manager it has coprocessor not installed, what is this ? and how can i fix it if it needs fixing

thank you.

That takes me back a coproccessor used to be an addon chip to speed up maths on old pc, like a second cpu dedicated to maths. How old was the pc it came from?

Hi gary, you can't just move a HDD with the O/S on it from one pc to another as unless the PC's have absolutely identical hardware, otherwise there will be be device and hardware issues such as you have. It will be necessary to reinstall the O/S on the HDD when its in the new PC, otherwise you'll always have issues.

hi .thanx for the replys. the pc it came out of was very old so put his hdd into my old computer. I didn't think it was going to work but it has so far apart from this problem.I think he will use win 7 from my old hdd in time but doesn't want to lose all passwords etc.. so I have just done this temporary. he doesn't use much and prob wouldn't notice if faulty it's just bugging me as everything else seems to be ok at the moment.

havent been round to house to check , but when spoke to him says computer is alot faster and works ok, so dont really know if compressor important or not so so far so good .
