Lets see if we can catch Avast and anything else another way, uninstall what we use as and when you see fit.

Post an Autoruns log for us, see here

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.

2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".

3: Click on the "Hide Signed Microsoft and Windows Entries” option.

4: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.

5: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop > when you click on File > Save you will then get the option to Save as type, click the drop down tab, change it to Text and then click the Save button.

6: Attach to your next reply.

Tutorial here

NB: Got an early start so going offline soon, back asap tomorrow.

1. Copy it onto the desktop.
2. Select it, click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.
3. Upload the zip folder using the Attach button, bottom left of the dialogue input box

Tip
If using a computer and not a mobile phone, please avoid adding multiple posts while waiting for us to reply to your last, edit your last post to include anything that you wish to add, this will ensure nothing gets overlooked which can sometimes happen if a thread has more than one page, it avoids filling up folks inbox and last but not least it amounts to bumping your thread which puts folk to the bottom of any reply list.

Edit to add: See the To Disable or Delete? info at the link here then go back and delete all the Avast entries in Autoruns, then restart, run Speccy and check to see if Avast has gone.

I`m off now, back tomorrow.

I added both the .txt and the .arn file in the zipped folder
I also deleted everything I could find on autoruns with avast in it and restarted but doesn't seem like it made a difference, I'm still seeing avast on speccy.

For some reason I couldn't get an edit button on any of my replies, I wanted to just edit the last one. I read what you said before about editing instead of making a new reply

I checked every browser and can't find anything. Yesterday I had an avast addon on firefox and uninstalled it, maybe something is still there?

My responses are going to be quite slow for the next hour or two

Try reinstalling Google then check again, we may need a malware expert if we cant get rid of it.

No problem about any delay, I will be going offline in a little over over an hr.

Great news, now that the computer is running stable, create a new system restore point and be sure to create one before updating or installing any new software.

Give it a couple of days to see how things go, if we don`t hear back from you we will mark your thread as solved if that is ok with you.
