Hi there,
I got out my grandads old pc the other day so I can use it. But when I boot it up I get an error message of "reboot and select proper boot device". I have very little experience with fixing PC's so help would be very appreciated. Thanks

How comfortable are you with opening up they system? If you are unsure other wise you could have a nice paper weight.

What is the make and model of the system?

The drive power and data cable may just need to be re connected they may have come loose during the move of the system. Just unplug the power and data cable form the drive and re attach them.

Follow the data cable for the drive to the other end and do the same.
