Hi so today I went to plug in my USB cable to charge my iPhone on the front panel connectors from the case to the motherboard. Right next to my power button is where this USB port is located . After I plugged it in and the cable didn’t Charge my phone I pulled it out. A piece of purple plastic came out with it. Without thinking I took the plastic out and plugged the USB back in. After this happened my entire pc froze and a blue screen came up saying it was gonna repair and was at 0%. Well after many hours this screen never changed from 0%. I turned the pc off and on. Now my monitors are receiving no signal. The pc turns on fine. It also seems like all the USB ports all over my pc stopped working. I tested them to see if any could Charge my phone none worked . My keyboard and mouse aren’t lighting up either giving indication they are not on. I am wondering if the HDMI slots stopped working as well somehow? Which is maybe why my monitors aren’t receiving signal? I’m not sure what to do. I can’t see why this 1 USB port would make my gpu, and motherboard ports stop working. Also, the USB c ports are the only ones that seem to be working?

make and model of PC?
can you provide a shot of the plastic piece?

I suspect it may be the bit inside the USB port that prevents the sticks from going in the wrong way.
if so, when you plugged your stick back in, it may have shorted out.

Well it’s a custom built pc. The mother board is a Maximus xii hero. The motherboard is showing a red error code “00” . Even if it shorted out the port why would that make all the other ports stop working? Is the mother board fried ? I’m not home so I can’t post a picture yet. But what you described sounds exactly like it. It was a purple plastic cover that went over the metal pins inside the usb port

Just to add on. I did try taking out the motherboards battery for 10mins. I tried changing the ram sticks around. I plugged my pc into a different wall outlet. I’ve tried different cables for everything (monitors cables, mouses, keyboards). Nothing seems to be receiving power. The pc itself turns on just fine and everything is working and lighting up. Just not the usb ports/hdmi ports. The usb C ports work which I thought was weird. I looked up the error code for my mother board, but I struggled to find any useful info. The motherboard manual also didn’t help for info on this error code very much.
