In the past when I connected my IPhone to my computer, I saw the following, Apple Iphone, Internal storage, DCIM, 101 Apple, 102 Apple, 103 Apple. There used to be hundreds of pictures in each Apple group. Now I see only two pictures. If I set my camera to Pictures, and look down at the screen on the camera, it tells me there are 865 pictures there. Why can't I see them ? Thanks, Mike

My iphone SE (old one) has all the Apple updates. I downloaded the latest ITunes last evening to my computer. Yesterday when I would attach my phone to the computer after I would unlock the phone with my four digit password, it would ask me if I trusted this computer, I would tap YES. Then the phone would ask me to Enter Device passcode to trust this computer. never asked that before. Anyway, I tried the 4 digit code that I use to unlock my phone, That did not work. Then I tried my Icloud password, that did not work. Then I tried my Microsoft account password, that did not work. and then if I looked in File manager, I would see. Apple phone, Internal storage, DCIM, 101 Apple, 102 Apple, 103 Apple. Now this morning, when I attach the phone, it does not ask any questions. If I look in File manager, I only see, Apple, Internal storage, and DCIM. That it. I tried attaching my phone to the wifes computer, same thing. So it has to be something in the phone that is messed up.

Update....I just tried attaching my wifes Apple phone to my computer. I CAN see all the pictures from her phone on my computer. So, it has to be a setting on my phone that is messed up.

in iTunes, on the menu line under the File, Edit, View etc line, when your iPhone is connected, do you see the phone icon?
it should be on the third line, top being the Windows title, next the File Edit View menu line, then the next one has < and > and at the end, a phone icon.

click that, and in the Backups section, is Encrypt local backup ticked?
just wondering if that is part of it, as I remember many phones ago, that option causing me grief, but theoretically, it sound only affect backups.

Hi Bruce, I do not see the phone icon. I see three categories. LIBRARY, that has Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres. Then DEVICES, that has Michael W. Music, Movies, TV shows, Books, Audio books, Tones. Last is MUSIC, which has Playlists. No phone icon anywhere

it doesn't show unless the phone is connected.
LIBRARY, MUSIC, DEVICES appear down the left column
this phone icon will appear immediately to the right of < > Music (on mine) then the icon - on the 3rd row from the top of the window.

but if your PC doesn't get past "Trust Me" and "Enter your device passcode" then it's not connected.

The phone IS connected. When the phone is NOT connected, there are only TWO categories. Library, and Music Playlist. The other one with Devices is not listed until I connect my phone. When I do connect my phone, I get a message that it is synching something. In the past, probably several months ago, I never even had Itunes on my computer. And in the past, I would get a message on my phone asking me if I trusted this computer etc. of which I would say yes. I do not get that message about trusting my computer anymore.

Update. I can see all the pictures from my wife's phone without even having Itunes open. When I connect her phone, if I look in File manager, I see, Apple phone, Internal storage, DCIM, and then hundreds of folders, that have hundreds of photos in each one. Soooo, something is messed up on my phone.

I would check the DCIM folder, but you may need to send them to icloud and then pull them onto your computer that way, this is the way I have heard of people doing it.

  • n iPhone, tap on Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, then switch off the slider of iCloud Photos.
  • From the pop-up dialog box, tap “Download Photos & Videos” to download a copy of photos in iCloud to your iPhone.
