Solved Can’t launch some games/not responding

Status
Not open for further replies.
my pc has been working fine until a couple days ago I tried to start fortnite or even battlefield 2042 and both game would free on easyanticheat loading screen and stop responding. This issue has only happened with those games yet I can play rocket league just fine. I’ve tried every recommendation on google and still nothing. All my drivers are updated, I’ve used restoro to try and fix registries. I’m just lost at this point and way in over my head. Any help would be appreciated

Thank you.

First thing I've noticed is that your BIOS is out of date. The latest revision for your board is F6. F6 is recommended due to security vulnerabilities that have been patched.

Battlefield 2042 has been having issues since the latest Season Pass was released. It's a KI (Known Issue)

Adding to what JM suggested:

Antivirus
Bitdefender Antivirus

W10 doesn't need an additional antivirus software, Windows Defender is very competent with some common sense and won't gum up your system/game performance as other antivirus programs are known to do.

Scheduler
DriverFix

These driver update programs are snake oil at best, having a 3rd party between your device and driver installation is bad, and often this software is known to distribute old/erroneous drivers.

Graphics
Odyssey G40B (1920x1080@240Hz)
LG ULTRAGEAR (1080x1920@120Hz)

Running monitors at different refresh rates, resolutions, or aspect ratios has been known to cause some stuttering, I would recommend trying each monitor on its own.

To add to the Speccy info, what PSU do you have in your computer?

What DRM do you run the game through? Have you tried validating your gamefiles?

Sorry for late response I'm not super educated in this so I'm just kind of figuring it out as I go.
I undated bios though and got rid of driverfix and antivirus.
I have a 650 watt 80 plus gold psu.
I use epic games for fornite, rocket league, and hogwarts. Then I use steam for battlefield, which I haven't had any problems with the new season till just a couple days ago. Whenever I launch fortnite or battlefield it gets stuck on easyanticheat page for a minute or 2 then will bring back up the drm, (for fortnite it will launch to connecting screen then stop responding).
I've tried verifying games files and even tried repairing easyanticheat incase something was restricting it.
The only other thing that was weird is I have a corsair k100 keyboard that runs on icue and ever since this issue started icue wont boot up on start up even if selected. I doubt it has anything to do with it, I just want to give you guys all the info cause you know way more than me :)
thanks again

Can you be more specific? there are many brands of power supply, think of it as me trying to figure out what car you have if you tell me it has 4 wheels. :)

I see, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games?

Same with EasyAntiCheat, have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling it?

If you right click the windows icon in the bottom left of your screen and select Apps and Features, search iCue and select modify, once this comes up select repair application.

My bad, I bought it from skytech gaming and that was all that was listed but I took off the side panel and it’s a Gambia’s 650 watt 80 plus gold.

I did uninstall and reinstall the games with no positive results.
I haven’t done the same with easy anti cheat other than just repairing so I’ll give that a shot when I get home later and keep you posted. Thanks again for the response!

So I got home and Fortnite had an update and everything ran fine. Battlefield still has issues but I'm not super worried about that, but other EasyAntiCheat games have been fine so hopefully the problem resolved itself.

While I have you though would you mind giving me some advice?
After updating my bios I see that I'm now eligible for windows 11. Is it worth updating or would it be safer to just stay on windows 10? Like I said, I'm still new to learning about pc's so any advice/tips is appreciated!

Windows 11 is worth the upgrade. I've been running it for over a year with 0 issues that are Windows related (only issues I've come across are game developer issues which have been promptly resolved) however it is up to you :) Windows 10 will be supported until at least 2025

Windows 12 is currently in development so the choice is yours

Glad to hear it's running better!

Windows 11 is very subjective, I don't like it because they make it feel a lot more like MacOS, but if you are okay with that - it is the next Windows and may be something for you.

A great option would be to install a hypervisor (Something like Oracle VirtualBox) and set up a virtual machine running Windows 11, try it out and see how it feels to you. Just make sure your hardware has W11 drivers available for you to download before you swap your whole system over.

Restoro looks like the same snake oil as DriverEasy, I would stay away from that stuff as a whole. The only people you should be trusting to install updates are the manufacturers (Windows, Gigabyte, NVIDIA), same for Virus protection - leave it to Windows Defender.

If you want to get rid of it and do a final speccy after making the changes I can take a final look for anything unusual.

Final note:

Keep 25-30% of your C: Drive free, clogging it up with files is a great way to cause a myriad of issues.
