Can't install new flash drives, but old one works

I have a Cruzer 32GB flash drive I use with no problems, have been for 2 years now. However, I bought a generic blue flash drive that doesn't work on my PC, but it works on my wife's and her setup is almost identical to mine. It says it can't find the driver for it & I've tried numerous methods to find it with no luck. I then went out & bought 4 different branded ones & they say the same thing, even tried another new Cruzer 32GB and it won't work. So my real problem seems to be that I can't install NEW flash drives. Any ideas? I haven't done any registry or other changes. I can see the new drives in the Device Manager and it has a yellow triangle. I've tried a number of recommended methods to get the driver to work & nothing helps.
