Solved Cannot access hard drive via USB adapter

I have a Seagate hard drive that came out of my old computer that went bad. I am using an adapter to try to access the hard drive content. The adapter is ELUTENG USB3.0 to SATA Adapter for 2.5/3.5 HDD max 8TB 5Gbps High Speed with 12V.

When I plug that into my laptop, and open the file explorer, the hard drive does not show up. However, in the Devices and Printers window, the hard drive shows up as "NS1066" and when I right click on it, then choose "Browse Files" and then I can see the hard drive there as "USB Drive (D: )." But the USB Drive (D: ) part is grayed out.

I already did update the driver in the device manager/USB Mass Storage Device/Uninstall Device and then Update Driver. It said it had the latest USB driver. I changed the Letter assignment for the drive. Did not work. I also tried all 4 USB ports on my laptop. I know one of them is USB 3.0. None of these attempts made a difference.
