Yes it is from before. I have 3 license keys that came with it.. and yes it's an official copy.
You do not get more than one product key for any product, it doesn't matter if the software is a game, Adobe or Microsoft software, when you pay extra for multiple installs of the same software you use the same product key each time, activate the software online and once you have installed and activated the software online the permitted amount of times you will get online confirmation and not be able to register the software on any more computer.

You only get one licence key with Windows OEM/System Builders and they can only be used the once, if you use the same key on another computer it will either not let you activate Windows from the outset or at some point it will tell you that you are using unlicensed software (this message stays on your Windows screen) and you will not be able to update Windows which puts you at risk of malware attack.

970/990 boards work with the CPU. Like ASRock and fatality boards.
Aware of that as I checked but as asked have you actually been able to find one, PCPartPickers checks many merchants for available components and in the case of the US they check the likes of Amazon, Newegg and PC Outlet to name just three and not one of them has a suitable board, you can check yourself here

It's already on one computer, I have 2 more installs available to me, is what I meant.

Yes I have found many boards to use. Pcpartpicker isn't the only place to get boards or look them up.

I have already checked.. boards don't just disappear because a new generation is out. I have found many..have the prices gone up? Yes. But that doesn't mean I can't use it.

A couple.. so my build so far ( and I can get pics later)

Im deciding between a ryzen 5 1600x and the Ryzen 7 1700x for a cpu and trying to find a good motherboard.. whether I should do a B350 or a 470. Budget being around $150 for the board I'm guessing and $300 max for the cpu.

I added an all in one card reader with front temp display. It already has a 4TB HDD in it, with more to come

Kind of going slow as money progresses and I satisfy all hobbies at once.

Hi BigMudTrux.

Just questions on what board to use and if the 1700x is worth the price or is there a better choice for the money

The Ryzen 7 1700X is definitely worth the price, as I own an 1800X and its been an awesome chip. The only advice I would give you would be to update the BIOS as soon as you get the system up and running since updated BIOS's offer better memory compatibility and improve the systems overall stability.

For a good quality AM4 motherboard under $150 dollars I would go with this one, MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON AM4 AMD X370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard or ASUS PRIME X370-A AMD Ryzen AM4 DDR4 HDMI DVI VGA M.2 USB 3.1 ATX X370 Motherboard.

I will definitely update the bios. I do like the MSI one.. how well does it tolerate overclock?

I'm also thinking of a sound card as well, since this will be used as an entertainment machine as well.. with surround sound. What do you think?

I understand this should not be one of the first things bought for a PC. But it won't hurt either

That motherboard can overclock the CPU pretty well but it honestly depends on how good the chip itself is as some CPU chips can overclock higher than others.

That sound card should work just fine.

Do you have any other questions that I can assist you with?
