Ah, there's the rub. From past experience I can pluck a budget figure out of the air but I tend not to stick to it. Either I start of deciding I want to find something really (and unjustifiably) good and poring over the luxury items until I finally decide I'm dreaming, get down about compromise and reduce any original budget, or I spend ages looking at what I can afford and eventually push the budget up and up to try to get a better item for the money. It seems any budget started with never seems to relate to the one I end up with.

I'd like to find information on what I paid for the Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 all those years back, to give me a clue as to a minimum start figure, but do you think I can find anything ? What if we start considering something around the £400/£450 mark ? I'm unsure whether I can justify that but I don't want to be disappointed in the result either.

Thanks.

Unlikely to be now. Did check jmarket's suggestion, was a little concerned whether, at the price, the spec would be better than I already have; but not found the time to make a detailed check. And what with the car insurance bill due soon, unlikely to be splashing out on a graphics card immediately.

To add to my last post, the card I linked to you is a lot better than your current one and is half the size, so more airflow flows and cooler on the components. It's newer so hardware is newer, faster bus speeds, faster memory speeds, etc. :)

To be honest I've not gone back to the game; enthusiasm drains when one can't play far further without it having issues. I've concluded that there is no fix for the existing system, that it probably need a new graphics card, although it seems to me that the one I have never was up to it. What with car tax, insurance, plus a few other high bills needing to come out of the meagre pension soon, I think I'll put this on ice, at least until the tax rebate comes in anyway. I do have the suggestion of a potential card from yourself, thank you. If all have posted whatever they can suggest it may be time to close the thread. Thank you everyone for all the contributions.

PS Will it run both my monitors without a hitch ?

Not yet, but you enquiry has made me check out your suggestion again. Naturally I need to buy from the UK rather than the US. I've a couple of questions that you may be able to answer, if you would.

First off, what is, and why, the difference between what seems to be the same card but with different specs ?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeFor...ncoding=UTF8&refRID=YVE81WCTH5T8B967ZFB0&th=1
https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-04G-P...=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01MG0ZJRO
the power alone seems vastly different and yet aren't they both EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti ?

Also, from the second link, that https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IOWT538/ref=psdc_430524031_t3_B01MG0ZJRO aside from the price, how do you rate it as a purchase vs the one you linked to ?

Cheers.

Seems to be no difference at all, except the price on your 2nd link.

Never occurred to me it'd be needed. The GTX470 takes 215w, The 1060 (which is still a couple of versions off the top) takes 400w. That's just a 185w increase. I didn't check in detail but I reckoned the XPS-750W-BES should be able to cope ok without me needing to worry.
