Browsers show blank window

Pros,

I encountered a weird issue on my laptop, Dell, Win 8.1.

I noticed it in Chrome at first. Upon launching, it just gives me a totally blank window. Nothing is showing. Then I installed many other browsers including Edge, Opera, Waterfox, Brave, all have the same issue !

I did find that IE still works, but some pages still shows blank screen. Like AWS home page displays fine, but the sign up page is blank.

Anyone knows what's going on? Really appreciated.

try this....
go into Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections tab, LAN Settings button, and make sure everything is untick.

other avenues to chase down are:
  • your firewall and AV programs
  • remove browser extensions
  • create another user account and log in under that profile
  • restart the PC into Safe Mode with networking
  • scan the unit for malware

Bruce,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried the LAN settings, no difference.
Turn off FW, no use.
Use different user acct, same issue.

I will keep trying other paths.

the big hammer approach would be to restore back to factory settings and reload a fresh copy of Windows.
you could try a repair of Windows before that, just in case you get lucky.

what about rebooting your modem/router?

any other connected devices in the house having the same issue?
